If the company you work for, How did you just find that out now?

No, I
just heard from my colleagues.

Did they give any reason?

that's a good question.

01:59 Crystal: You know, it's not really something that we can handle.

I mean, you know, in any in any. Business or in any sort of you know?

Institute or any place where there is, you know power and you know ranking
and hierarchy there is always the chance of corruption I think yeah.

I mean, I don't know. It could be it could be when I when I was at high school
for example.

I never noticed anything like that, but then why would I? You know, why would
I? Why would I be? Why would I notice that sort of thing? But I mean is, is
it is that? Is that something that you have noticed or is it just your colleagues
and some of your friends that are telling you that?

03:10 Crystal: I also noticed that it's truth because our principle was a PE
teacher in the past and right now he he is a principal in our school. And then
he bought so many PE equipment, the sport equipment for the student. But.

So I think he should buy more like the electronic whiteboard or something like
that

Is the equipment? Yeah, that you that you have to use is that is it not very
good equipment do you think not very good even very old.

What sort of technology or what sort of equipment do you think that is

not working, for example?
Oh, like for every Thursday we have the weekly meeting or assembly. Is it
called assembly with the with the student on the playground and then on the
playground. So hot. And just like there are five fans only.

OK, so there's no, no, no, no, no, not air conditioning. What about you?

Even if he's a PE teacher, he should be. He should be buying. Yeah, air

conditioning. Because you know, if you're, if you're doing, if you're doing PE,
you don't want to be, you don't want to be too hot, right? Yeah, of course. It's
weird. So that's why, oh, my God. And I heard that.

Before he come to our school, he work to another school and he said he was
a Christian. He believed Christian.

He doesn't. He doesn't. He doesn't. Doesn't believe anymore. And he believes

another one. Is it called Catholic? Catholic coal Catholic. OK, so, yeah, we
would say.

You know Catholicism [kə'θɒləsɪzəm], I mean, being a Catholic is.

is sort of is a type of Christianity. You know, if you're a Catholic and you kind
of are Christian, there is another. There is another one which would be.

Protestantism, which is a which is like a.

Just a different sort of Christianity, basically. I can't remember the exact

difference but.

Well, yeah, what about in in your classrooms apart from the air conditioning is
is it like, do you feel like you have the right rules to teach, does the classroom
is fine but.

Why does that change anything? Well, well, what happens because it's
too old. It's too old. I think it's the size. The size is the problem.

So even even before your colleagues and friends and friends told you this,
even before you. Kind of, you kind of had an idea. You kind of thought there
were some things that were not good.

That's probably my least favorite. My least. Why? Why?

Because they I think they they can argue with you, right? Yeah. Exactly.
Exactly. Yeah. I thought you got it. They are. They can argue with me. They're
they're old enough. They know how to behave badly.

Kids know how to behave once they reach maybe 16 or 17. They, you know,
they know they know how they should behave.

You know, they at least they at least they pretend to do the work, even if
they're not doing it right. They pretend to do it. .

I feel tired. Yeah, this is so. This uses so much energy, doesn't it?

it's usually draining and it's not. It's not fun. That's what I mean about about
the older kids. You know, the 16 and 17 year olds. It's like at least sit there. At
least sit there talking to each other like they don't. They're not too loud, right.
They don't. You know, they don't start screaming or like.

Or you know or throwing things or things like that, you know? Yeah, maybe
they just sleep. That's OK for me would be that. That's nice and quiet. If they
just sleep, that's OK. Yeah. Umm, but OK. Yeah. So that's a that's a shame. If
you feel that you have to move.

Because of the situation, but do you think it is it quite easy to find another
place like that? Do you think? Well, another job like that rather?

Is there no way of checking which school is good?

What we call is the know that league tables or anything like that.

It's like a list of schools in order of like how good they are. Is it like a bang one
or bang two school? Kind of, yeah. Yeah. Kind of. Or by by like performance
or some or something like that.

why do you think that?

Yeah, even if they are like, even if they get good results.

14:08 Crystal: I mean, I guess maybe in in Macau would hypothetically would

it be easy for like you know for example if hypothetically I mean I I'm probably
not, but just hypothetically you know if I if I went over to Macau would do you
think it'd be, would it be easy for someone like me to find a job as an English
teacher?

Do you think that's fair?

Is that not normal, though? Is that 6, like, 6-6 hours, six hours a day, right?
Yeah, six hours a day for one lesson. It lasts for 40 minutes only.

What does he do? What does he do? he because teaches the same thing.
Yeah, to all the classes.

Does that make it easy, do you think or do you think that makes it boring?

maybe six times is a little bit boring. I think if you do, maybe you could do like
twice, maybe, maybe, maybe three times. But yes, six is a little bit.

When you're not talking to them, the other, the other 29 will just be not
listening, right?

I would say 6, maybe 6, because then then if you've got six, you can have
three pairs, right? 33 pairs? Yeah, 5 is good, 4 is good. You know anything,
anything below that is fine. But above that is just starts to get a little bit.

You lose effectiveness. You know, it's not as effective, I think, and that that's
a problem.

is it quite easy for foreign people to to get like their work permission and
everything like that? Is that all sorted out quite easily?

maybe there's some agreement between like the Hong Kong and the British,
the British Government, because they used they like the, I think the Britain. I
think Hong Kong used to be well belong used to be like under British control I
think.
20:42 Crystal: Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But what sort of just sort of
interest, what, what sort of wage would a foreign English teacher earn in
in Macau?

OK. Umm, so maybe 2020, 2500 on average, umm per month, I mean per
month.

It's not like a maze. It's not like.

I mean you can you can live comfortably on that right?

But yeah, well, uh, I'm I mean I'm the only native in my Academy. I'm the only
native English speaker, which surprises me a little bit. The rest, the rest are
Spanish. And there's one person from the from the Philippines, I think from the
Philippines.

What ideas do you already have about it? Even if your ideas are not 100%
clear, what? What sort of ideas do you have when, when do we use these
words?

either: we could say one of two options or more. So one of two or more
options.

This is just one, one option or the other option can be chosen. So one option
or the other option.

We can either do reading practice Or we can do speaking practice.

we can either go to the cinema, we can go to the shops or we could stay at

home.

It's sunny, I think we should go to the parks.

either that or we could go to the swimming pool.
neither , we're negating it.
Not acceptable or or are both not what we're talking about, or are both not
correct?
Do you want chocolate or vanilla ice cream?
neither.  Like you don't want, you don't want.
Neither of them. I want neither of them.

I beg your pardon? Little bit of a cold today.

OK, so this this sentence I don't want nothing. It makes grammatically it

makes sense, but what it what it means if you say I don't want nothing it
means that you want. You want something? Ohh it's like you know. I know
and.

Do you like your girlfriend's?

maybe this person doesn't.

They may say to try and emphasize some they may say well.
I don't not like it.

I don't dislike it

I don't not want it or something like that to kind of emphasize the same thing.

Neither pizza nor the pasta nor the calzoni looks very nice.
It seems impossible. Pizza and pasta always look nice.

So you know we can either we can either do reading practice or we can do

speaking practice or we can do listening practice or we can you know
whatever,

And I remember that I couldn't think of any examples that I told you that which
was so which was annoying, but I found some good examples and actually
some of the examples are quite are quite are quite funny.

I love cooking, my friends and movies.

~separating the ideas

I love cooking my friends and movies.

~the person likes to prepare their friends to eat.

He's my brother, Jack. (Jack is beside me right now)So here we're using a
coma to show that we are.

Well, we're using the comedy here to show that we are addressing
somebody else.

hi, John.

He's my brother Jack.

Then that means that Jack is your brother.
you are saying that Jack is your brother. You're saying he's my brother.

the party will have dancing, music, and the clown.

~a bit of a longer list

~separating the comma separates the oops separates the list.

the party will have dancing music and the clown.

compound noun like it pushes the two nouns together to make them into
one.
Hope it's not too. Not too much corruption and yeah.
