Dismentling Procedure
Dismentling Procedure
Dismentling Procedure
gearbox is a complex task that requires precision and attention to detail. Here is a detailed
procedure for the process:
1. Socket set
2. Wrenches
3. Bearing puller
4. Bearing press
5. Dial indicator
6. Torque wrench
7. Cleaning solvents
8. Grease
Safety Precautions:
Ensure the peeling machine is turned off and isolated from power.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves and safety glasses.
Follow all safety guidelines and procedures outlined in the machine's manual.
Ensure you have a clean and well-lit workspace with adequate ventilation.
2. Machine Isolation:
Lock out and tag out the machine to prevent accidental start-up
a. Hydraulic Hoses:
Identify and mark the hydraulic hoses connected to the gearbox or other components.
b. Side Guards:
Remove side guards using the appropriate tools, such as wrenches or screwdrivers.
Label or mark the guards for correct reassembly.
c. Peeling Guards:
If there are specific guards associated with the peeling mechanism, remove them.
d. Gearbox Covers:
Unbolt and remove any gearbox covers that provide access to the internal components.
Keep track of the location and type of fasteners used for each cover.
Remove the gearbox oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely.
Identify and disconnect any couplings, belts, or other connections between the input
and output shafts.
Take note of the shaft positions and any keyways for correct reassembly.
4. Access Gearbox:
Depending on the gearbox design, use appropriate tools to open the gearbox
housing.
Before removing any components, mark the positions of the existing taper roller
bearings using a permanent marker or scribe.
6. Remove Bearings:
Use a bearing puller to carefully remove the taper roller bearings from their
designated positions.
Pay attention to the condition of the bearings, and set them aside for inspection.
7. Inspect Bearings:
Thoroughly inspect the removed taper roller bearings for wear, pitting, or any signs
of damage.
Measure the bearing clearances and document the findings for future reference.
These shims play a crucial role in achieving proper gear mesh, so handle them with
care.
Inspect the gearbox housing, gears, and other internal components for wear,
damage, or any abnormalities.
Document all findings during the dismantling process, including the condition of
bearings, shims, and other components.
Note any discrepancies or issues that need attention during the overhaul.
Thoroughly clean all components using an appropriate solvent to remove grease, oil,
and contaminants.
Ensure that all surfaces are clean and free from debris before reassembly.
With the gearbox dismantled and components cleaned, you are now ready to
proceed with the overhaul and bearing replacement process.
