Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services Policy

RATIONALE
Holy Cross College recognises that most students own and carry mobile phones or devices (e.g. Apple
watches, cameras, iPods, laptops and tablets) and that they are an important part of everyday life. These
devices vary in their sophistication and can be used inappropriately, lost or damaged and must therefore be
effectively managed by the student. Holy Cross is committed to maintaining a positive school culture that
promotes safe, responsible and respectful use of digital devices and online services.

PURPOSE
The purpose of the Policy is to set out clear guidelines for students, staff, parents and carers regarding the
possession and use of mobile phones and other devices at Holy Cross College. This policy has been
implemented in line with SCS guidelines and policies and will allow students to feel secure at school, interact
positively with their peers and allow staff to teach without the distraction that mobile phones can invariably
bring into the classroom environment.

bag between the hours of 8:30am and 3:05pm (2.25pm on Thursday). It is not acceptable to use

commencement of each academic year and it can be found in the College Diary).
● Students are fully responsible for the security of their devices at all times. Holy Cross College accepts
no responsibility for students whose devices are lost, stolen or damaged. This also applies to any
organised off-site school events.
● Headphones should only be used in class with the teacher’s permission to access educational material.
