4.0 CONCLUSION

Our comprehensive survey and data research in Klang Valley for the year 2019 provide
valuable insights into the homestay landscape, revealing compelling trends and variations
that shape the industry in this region.
Tamarind Suites, D2Pie Homestay, and Purple Dream Home emerged as the most favored
choices among visitors, collectively attracting over 2000 guests, both domestic and
international. These homestays stood out not only for their popularity but also for their
substantial contribution to the overall income generated by homestays in Klang Valley.
Notably, Tamarind Suites, D2Pie Homestay, and Ong’s Homestay claimed the top spots in
income generation, with Ong’s Homestay demonstrating exceptional financial performance.

A noteworthy aspect of our findings is the prominence of visitor stay as the primary source of
revenue for homestays. Despite the presence of 15 homestays in our study, Ong’s
Homestay managed to outshine others in income generation, showcasing the significance of
strategic positioning and service offerings in influencing visitor choices. This raises
interesting considerations for other homestays, suggesting that optimizing visitor experience
and pricing strategies can play a pivotal role in financial success.

D’Lena Homestay, while recording the highest number of domestic visitors, exhibited a
different dynamic by achieving comparatively lower revenue. This phenomenon can be
attributed to their deliberate focus on affordability and services tailored to budget-conscious
travelers. This finding underscores the importance of aligning pricing strategies with target
audience preferences and market positioning.

The distinction between domestic and international visitors offers valuable insights into the
preferences of these two segments. Domestic visitors, predominantly from within Malaysia,
displayed a clear inclination towards Klang Valley homestays, emphasizing a preference for
local destinations. This insight is crucial for homestay operators looking to tailor their
marketing strategies and services to the preferences of their primary audience.

In summary, our study paints a vivid picture of the diverse homestay landscape in Klang
Valley in 2019. The industry is characterized by a range of preferences among visitors, with
certain homestays excelling in popularity and income generation. These findings provide
actionable insights for homestay operators and stakeholders, guiding them in making
informed decisions to enhance visitor experiences and financial performance in the dynamic
and competitive Klang Valley market.
