INTRODUCTION:-

 DEFINITION:- A complex number is

a combination of real values and imaginary
values.

 EQUATION:-
Z=a+ib ,where ‘a’, ‘b’ real
numbers and ‘i’is an imaginary number and
the value of ‘i’ is√ (−1 ) .

 MODULUS FORM:-
the modulus is the form of a
complex number is the distance of
the complex number.
r=|z|=√ a +b
2 2

POLAR FORM:- Z=r(cos θ+ isin θ)

a b
where r=√ a +b , cos θ= r ,sin θ= r

3
 DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REAL
NUMBER AND COMPLEX NUMBER:-

1) Real Numbers include all decimal fractional,

negative and positive integers. But the Complex
Numbers written as the sum or difference of a
real numbers and imaginary number.

2)All real numbers are complex numbers (by having

b=0), but there are complex numbers that are not
real.

4
ROOT OF COMPLEX NUMBER:-

5
N TH ROOTS OF UNITY:-

6
TRIGONOMITRIC FUNCTION:-
For a complex variable z = x + iy
In the exponential function part,
exp( iy) = cos y + isin y [here y is real]
and exp(-iy) = cos y - isin y

Formula:-
1)case -1:- when x is real then-
cos x= exp ( ix ) +exp ⁡(−ix)
2

sin x= exp ( ix )−exp

2i
⁡(−ix)

2)case-2:- when z is complex -

cos z= exp ( iz ) +exp ⁡(−iz)
2

sin z= exp ( iz )−exp ⁡(−iz)
