Requirements 1 1-1

General Remarks 1

This procedure describes the steps necessary to upgrade or reinstall software on Image
System AXIOM Aristos.
For system breakdowns, it is reasonable to perform the complete installation (Win NT +
Application).
Unless otherwise specified, it is sufficient to reinstall only the application SW for updates
of the Image System AXIOM Aristos.

Required Tools 1

Standard service tools.

Safety Information 1

The “Safety Information“ contained in the system manual and in the particular unit instruc-
tions must be observed.

Protection of Electrostatically-sensitive Components

Integrated circuits and circuit boards on which MOS components are installed call for par-
ticularly careful handling because of their highly sensitive electrical structures and
because of their extremely high input resistance. The ESD regulations that apply for elec-
trostatically-sensitive components must be observed.

General Remarks 2

The purpose of this procedure is to give instructions to load the NT OS into the Image
System AXIOM Aristos after the system drive is replaced or Re-install over an existing
Windows NT. It is recommended to load the NT OS before loading the Image System
AXIOM Aristos Application. It requires that the proper set up and configuration of the hard-
ware and associated BIOS setting has been configured correctly.
The NT OS CD must be run from a bootable CD ROM device.

Backup 2

NOTE Before reinstalling the software, a backup of the configuration

and an organ program backup is imperative.
To do this, see chapter -5- and start a backup process.
Make a note of all customer-specific configurations such as key-
board layout, regional settings,...Please use the blank screen
shots in chapter -6- as a backup medium. After finishing the SW
upgrade, these pages can also be used as a backup for later ser-
vice.

Installing the NT OS 2

General Remarks 2

NOTE All information in the drives will be destroyed. Archive all the
images or put them on film before carrying out this installation.

Follow the instructions in the chapter -5- to back up the AXIOM Aristos Image System
Configuration and ORGAN programs, if this is necessary.

Image System Aristos Appl. SW Installation 3 3-1
The installation of the Image System AXIOM Aristos Application Software requires the NT
OS to be installed first. Perform a complete installation of the PC operating system prior to
installing the Image System AXIOM Aristos software to remove a previous version of
Image System AXIOM Aristos.

General Remarks 3

Computer Name Verification 3

Before installing the Image System AXIOM Aristos application software ensure that the
computer name is unique if more than one PC is to be used on a network. Duplicate
names on a single Network "Workgroup" or "Domain" will prevent the application software
from operating properly.

NOTE The computer name is used to create the data base. Therefore, if
the NT OS CD was used to set up more than one computer on the
same network, the computer names, as well as the configured IP
addresses, must be changed.
If there are no special requirements from the customer site, the
Image System AXIOM Aristos PC Ident number should be used as
computer name, e.g. Radis01234.
For reinstallation, if at all possible, the same name as was used
for the original installation should be used.

To check the computer name perform the following steps:

• Click the 'Start' button on the task bar located at the bottom of the screen.
• Select 'Settings'.
• Select 'Control Panel'.
• From the control panel select 'Network'.
• The Network settings dialog will be displayed. Verify that the Computer name is unique
for each of the PC connected to the 'Workgroup' or 'Domain'.

NOTE The name of the PC can be changed only if it is not being added
to or is already part of an 'NT Network Domain'. If the PC is a
member of an 'NT Network Domain' a systems administrator for
the domain will be required to add the PC to the domain.

• Select the 'Protocols' tab card.

• Double-click on the 'TCP/IP Protocol' entry.
• Check with the system administrator to determine whether the network you are
connected to supports DHCP services. If so, select the 'Obtain IP address from DHCP
server' radio button.
• If the network does not support DHCP services, select the 'Specify an IP Address' radio
button, and enter unique information.
• Select "Apply" and "OK".
• Close the "Network" an "Control Panel" windows.

is restarted.
• Acknowledge the message but do not restart the system yet.
• Select the 'Protocols' tab card.
• Double-click on the 'TCP/IP Protocol' entry.
• Check with the system administrator to determine whether the network you are
connected to supports DHCP services. If so, select the 'Obtain IP address from DHCP

databases and back ends to be initially created before proceed-
ing.

NOTE The first time Image System AXIOM Aristos is run, import of the
service patient images into the database causes a delay of
approximately 3 minutes. Wait for the prompt in the status bar
that states "5 Second start up delay" before proceeding.

After the successful system boot up, the message "NOT READY- NO PATIENT
