So, do you know what generation gap is?

Generation gap is a difference of opinions and

outlooks between one generation and another. These differences can be related to beliefs,
politics, language, work, and values. Generational differences can cause misunderstandings,
but generations can overcome differences and maintain relationships. An example is the
difference in beliefs and lifestyles between generation Z and previous generations. The
following sections will help us understand this concept further.

It must be said that general diffrences come from many causes. The first factor is that
parents and children generally see things from different perspectives. Choosing a career is a
good example for this. Many parents try to impose certain careers they favor on their
children, based on their own perceptions. However, young people don’t always understand
their parents’ points of views. Instead, they prefer to be free to make their own decisions on
their future career. Another factor lies in differences in musical tastes, fashion, and political
views between young people and their parents. For example, having a pierced nose might be
viewed as fashionable by some teens, but for many parents, it is considered to be an act of
rebellion against social norms.. The major factor causing the generation gap is lack of
communication between parents and their children. Parents tend to be dominant and not to
trust their children to deal with crises. Also, they keep talking too much about certain
problems. That is the reason why young people seldom reveal their feelings to their parents.

From those factors, we have some solutions to this problem. First, generations should be
open to perspectives and ideas. Often the previous generations will always oppose modern
ideas because they always adhere to traditional lifestyles and on the contrary, the modern
generation also does not accept traditional concepts whether they are right or wrong. This
leads to conflicts and to solve these problems, each generation needs to rethink and absorb
ideas that are suitable for themselves and the times. Next, parents should spend more time
with their children. The changing world makes people become busier with work and parents
no longer have time for their children, causing increasingly distant relationships with their
children. Therefore, they need to arrange their time properly to have time to take care of the
children. Finally, children should also share their thoughts and opinions with their parents.
They often don't let anyone know what they think. That's what makes children not want to be
close to their parents. Confiding will help bring closer family distance.

When talking about the generation gap, we cannot help but mention the problems
between parents and children. The first one is study issues. For example, parents will put
pressure on scores and achievements, always have the psychology of comparison with peers,
making their children feel inferior about themselves and always avoid their parents. Every
time they get a bad score, parents will not find out the reason but always blame their children
for being incompetent. Even if they get a high score, parents will want their són ang
daughters to try harder instead of giving praise. The second one is children management.
Parents always want to care and protect their children from all bad things. But that mentality
is too strong that parents control their children too much, causing them to lose their privacy.
From making friends, dressing when going out, and even texting must be supervised by
parents and children feel uncomfortable and do not want to be close or talk to their parents.
Not only that, conflicts between parents and children also occur when talking about their
children's interests. Nowadays, in addition to watching phones and TV, children often like to
read fairy tales or simple things about everyday life. Some parents will think it is extremely
useless and use books about math or English instead. That is what has widened the distance
between families.
To stop it, everyone has to have some ways to tackle those problens. For learning issues,
parents should find out their children's learning through teachers, friends and themselves
about their children's learning ability and desires, in order to set appropriate goals for their
children or cheer and encourage their children to study. better. Facing with
pảents’managment, children should share this with friends and teachers to receive useful
advice. Then express their opinion to their parents so that parents are aware of their mistake
and together find the best solution for your child to have private space without parents having
to worry about their child getting ìnected with bad things. About the hobbies, parents should
read one or two such stories with their children in their free time. While reading, they can
discuss with their sons anf daughters to find interesting things and useful life lessons from the
story. During study time, parents can teach their children some knowledge related to the
subject When studying, parents can ask about their child's choices in studying.

In the generation gap, people also often mention the family types that are popular
today. First of all is the traditional family style - extended family. It has brought us
some notable benefits. The most obvious benefit of living in a multi-generational family is
that family members can share work and love each other. Children are cared by elders in the
family instead of handing them over to maids. An extended family provides a safe and warm
atmosphere for children. Furthermore, you can also learn a lot from the adults in your family.
Our grandparents often have a lot of useful and practical life experiences that are not found in
books. Learning those things from them will help you be more flexible and mature.. Another
interesting advantage of this kind of family is that children have an environment to develop
social virtues such as empathy, sympathy, and sacrifice. Because sometimes in multi-
generational families there will be disagreements, or lack of material resources, so it is
important that all family members need to give in to each other to maintain a happy and
harmonious family atmosphere.

Like these advantages are many, the extended family system has some disadvantages.
Let me introduce these disadvantages. The first drawback is that people may not have
personal space. Mostly, in an extended family system, family members may not have the
desired personal space because having many people in the house could act as a distraction or
may create a disturbance for you when you really want your own time. Another disadvantage
is that the extended family can lead to interference. : An extended family system massively
leads to the obstacle of members of the family with your personal matters and choices such as
your work, personal activities, relationship with others, and marriage.. The way grandparents
or uncle looks and understands everything can be completely different from the teenagers’
one, so this often leads to misunderstandings between family members. Moreover,
maintaining extended families is expensive because of the large number of members that
need to be raised and cared for. The last advantage is the lack of independence. An extended
family system often limits the desired level of independence that an adult should exhibit as
each member of the family depends on the efforts of each other to survive. This independence
often produces laziness among family members.

Unlike the past, today the most popular type of family is the nuclear family. This type
of family is being chosen by many people and will become a trend in the future, and of
course it has many benefits. The first advantage is that it plays an essential role in the
development of personality of individuals. Children will have more chances to be more close
to the parents and have more free discussion about their problems. In nuclear families, the
condition of women is better than joint families. They get time to plan and manage their
houses without interference of elders. Another advantage is people have more freedom and
privacy. They are freer to express their expectations of each other. In addition, nuclear family
often experience less conflict compared to extended families, as there are fewer people living
in the household. This can lead to a more peaceful and harmonious home environment.

On the other hand, there are also several disadvantages of living in a nuclear family.
One of the biggest challenges is the lack of extended family support. In times of crisis or
difficulty, nuclear families may feel isolated and unable to rely on the support of
grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. This can be especially challenging for single-parent
families or families with limited resources. Another disadvantage of living in a nuclear family
is the potential for stress and burnout. With fewer people to share responsibilities, nuclear
family members may feel overwhelmed by the demands of daily life, such as childcare,
housework, and employment. Additionally, nuclear families may be more vulnerable to
economic insecurity, as there are fewer sources of income and support available.
