General Instructions:
This Question Paper has 5 Sections A, B, C, D and E. Section A has 20 MCQs carrying 1 mark each. Section
B has 5 questions carrying 02 marks each. Section C has 6 questions carrying 03 marks each. Section D has
4 questions carrying 05 marks each. Section E has 3 case based integrated units of assessment (04 marks
each) with sub- parts of the values of 1, 1 and 2 marks each respectively. All Questions are compulsory.
However, an internal choice in 2 Questions of 5 marks, 2 Questions of 3 marks and 2 Questions of 2 marks
has been provided. An internal choice has been provided in the 2 marks questions of Section E. Draw neat
figures wherever required. Take π =22/7 wherever required if not stated.

the values of x and y.
Q29. Prove that secA (1 – sinA).(secA + tanA) = 1.
Q30. In the given figure, a circle is inscribed in triangle ABC touching its sides
AB, BC and AC at points D, E and F respectively. If AB = 12cm, BC = 8 cm
and AC = 10 cm, then find the length of AD , BE and CF.
OR
Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.
Q31. A charitable trust donates 28 different books of Maths, 16 different books of Science and 12 different books
of Social Science to the poor students. Each student is given maximum number of books of only one subject
of his interest and each student got equal number of books .
(i) Find the number of books each student got.
(ii) Find the total number of students who got books.
SECTION- D
This section comprises long answer type questions of 5 marks each.

Q33. A pen stand made of wood is in the shape of a cuboid with four conical depressions and a cubical depression
to hold the pens and pins, respectively. The dimensions of the cuboid are 10 cm, 5 cm and 4cm. The radius
of each of the conical depressions is 0.5 cm and the depth is 2.1 cm. The edge of the cubical depression is
3 cm. Find the volume of the wood in the entire stand.
Q34. A train travels at a certain average speed for a distance of 54 km and then travels a distance of 63 km at an
average speed of 6km/h more than the first speed. If it takes 3 hours to complete the journey, what was its
first average speed ?
OR
A pole has to be erected at a point on the boundary of a circular park of diameter 13 metres in such a way

that the differences of its distances from two diametrically opposite fixed gates A and B on the boundary are
7 metres. Is it possible to do so? If yes, at what distances from the two gates should the pole be erected?
Q35. In the given figure, ∠ADC = ∠BCA ; prove that ∆ACB ~ ∆ADC . Hence find BD if AC = 8 cm and AD = 3
cm.

ABCD is a parallelogram, P is a point on side BC and DP when produced meets AB produced at L. Prove
that (i) DP/PL = DC/BL (ii) DL/DP = AL/DC (iii) If LP: PD= 2 : 3 then find BP; BC.
SECTION –E
This section comprises of 3 Case Studies of 4 marks each.
Q36. Totem poles are made from large trees. These poles are carved
with symbols or figures and mostly found in western Canada
and north western United States.
In the given pictures, two such poles of equal heights are
Standing 28m apart. From a point somewhere between them in
the same line, the angles of elevation of the top of the Pole 1
and Pole 2 are 60° and 30° respectively.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
(i) Draw a neat labelled diagram.
(ii) Find the height of the poles.
OR
If the distance of the top of the Pole 1 and Pole 2 from the point of observation on the road are taken
as p and q respectively, then find a relation between p and q.
(iii) Find the distances of the point of observation from the two poles.
Q37. Use of mobile screen for long hours makes your eye sight weak and gives you headaches. Children who are
addicted to play “PUBG’’ can get easily stressed out.To raise social awareness about ill effects of playing
PUBG, a school decided to start ‘BAN PUBG’ campaign, in which students are asked to prepare campaign
board in the shape of a rectangle. One such campaign board made by class X student of the school is shown
In the figure.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
(i) Find the coordinates of the point of intersection of diagonals AC and BD.
(ii) Find the length of the diagonal AC.
(iii) Find the area of the campaign Board ABCD.

Find the ratio of the length of side AB to the length of the diagonal AC.
Q38. The most accurate way to determine the age of tree is to count the annual rings of wood growth. One such
trunk has been shown here. To make an identification mark, the forest department has painted segment
ACBA. Chord AB makes an angle 90° at the centre and radius of the trunk is 21 cm.
