    “ELECTROMECHANIC”

    1- ELECTRICITY ( ELECTRICIDAD)
    MEANING: Is a form of energy that can be carried by wires and is used for heating and lighting,
    and to provide power for machines.
    SENTENCE: The electricity had been cut off.

    2- WELD ( SOLDAR)
    MEANING: Is a join where two pieces of metal have been welded togheter.
    SENTENCE : I weld the window.
    3- MOTOR
    MEANING: A device that changes electricity or fuel into movement and makes a macchine work.
    SENTENCE: The pump is powered by a small electric motor.

    4- ROTOR
    MEANING: A part of a machine that spins, specially the device supporting the turning blades of a
    helicopter.
    SENTENCE: The mechanic repared the rotor.
    5- CIRCUIT ( CIRCUITO)
    MEANING: A closed system of wires or pipers through which electricity or liquid can Flow.
    SENTENCE: A defect was found in the electrical circuit.

    6- CONNECTIONS ( CONEXIONES )
    MEANING: A type of structure that allows current to pass through it.
    SENTENCE: The red cable has its connections between the feeder and the motor.
    7- CURRENT ( CORRIENTE )
    MEANING: A flow of electrical charge carriers, usually electrons or electrodeficient atoms.
    SENTENCE: Electric current is dangerous.

    8- LATHE ( TORNO)
    MEANING: A machine for shoping wood, metal or other material.
    SENTENCE: The lathe is big and heavy.
    9- WELDING HELMET ( CASCO DE SOLDADURA )
    MEANING: A thing that protect the eyes, fase and neck from flash burm, sparks, infared and
    ultraviolet ligth.
    SENTENCE: It´s important use welding helmet when you weld.

    10- GRINDER ( AMOLADORA )


    MEANING: Is an electric and manual tool that has a high power electric motor that is mainly used
    for DIY tasks in both the domestic and industrial fields.
    SENTENCE: I buy a grinder.
    11- SCREWDRIVER ( DESTORNILLADOR )
    MEANING: Instrument made of iron or other material, used to unscrew and screw.
    SENTENCE: My dad lost his screwdriver.

    12- WELDING PLANT ( PLANTA DE SOLDADURA)


    MEANING: Is a tool that is used mainly for joining parts, through the aplication of heat.
    SENTENCE: In the workshop we use a welding plant.
    13- CUTTING PILERS ( PINZAS DE CORTE )
    MEANING: Are a staple in electrical tool bags.
    SENTENCE: Once welded, we will cut the terminal with the cutting pilers.

    14- SWITCH ( INTERRUPTOR )


    MEANING: A device for making and breaking the connection in an electric circuit.
    SENTENCE: The guard hit a switch and the gate swung open.
    15- TRANSFORMER ( TRANSFORMADOR )
    MEANING: An apparatus for reducing or increasing the voltaje o fan alternating current.
    SENTENCE: We traced the trouble to a faulty transformer.

    16- VOLT ( VOLTIO )


    MEANING: Unit of electromotive force, the difference of potential that would drive one ampere of
    current against one ohm resistance.
    SENTENCE: It also has two volt windings which are connected in parallel.
    17- WATT ( VATIO )
    MEANING: Unit of power, equivalent to one joule per second, corresponding to the power in an
    electric circuit in which the potential difference is one volt and the current one ampere.
    SENTENCE: This ligth bulb is a “40 watt” model.

    18- VOLTMETER ( VOLTIMETRO )


    MEANING: An instrument for measuring electric potential in volts.
    SENTENCE: The difference between the two ends of the thermocouple is measured by the
    voltmeter and used to determine the temperatura.
    19- AMPEREMETER ( AMPERIMETRO )
    MEANING: It´s an instrument used to measure the intensity of the electric current.
    SENTENCE: This current may be controlled by a suitable resistance and measured by en
    ammeter.

    20- COMPRESSOR ( COMPRESOR )


    MEANING: A device that increases the pressure of a substance ( usually gas ) by reducing the
    volumen of the substance.
    SENTENCE: They used an air compressor to take in atmospheric air, compress it, and force it
    into the cabin.
    21- DIAGRAM ( DIAGRAMA )
    MEANING: A simplified drawing showing the apperance, structure, or workings of something; a
    schematic representation.
    SENTENCE: A diagram of the living room.

    22- PUSH BUTTON ( BOTONERA )


    MEANING: A mechanical device used to control an electrical circuit in which the operator
    manually presses a button to actuate an internal switching mechanism.
    SENTENCE: Using her flashligth, Maya located an antique push button ligth switch.
    23- FREQUENCY ( FRECUENCIA )
    MEANING: Is the number of complete cycles of an alternating voltage or current in a particular
    amount of time, measured in Hertz.
    SENTENCE: The frequency changes a lot in the circuit.

    24- COIL ( BOBINA )


    MEANING: Is a passive component of an electrical circuit that, due to the phenomenon of self-
    induction, stores energy in the formo f a magnetic field.
    SENTENCE: The appliances have a motion-generating coil.
    25- GENERATOR ( GENERADOR )
    MEANING: A device that converts a form of energy into electricrity.
    SENTENCE: The emergency generators are designed to cope with power cuts.
