the Q3/23 period, with the USA, UK, Canada, and Germany
maintaining their places at the top of the list of the most targeted
countries.

Looking at the previous quarter (Q2) and Q3 statistics, the change in
ransomware attacks is noteworthy. Business, professional and legal
services led with 24.4% in Q2, rising to 34.2% in Q3. Manufacturing
dropped from 18.8% to 11.5%, while Healthcare & Public Health Sector
was not even in the top three in Q3.

The Ransomware
Gangs
According to Q2 and Q3 ransomware statistics, LockBit has the
highest attack rate in both quarters. In Q2, Clop ranked second
with 10.6%, while in Q3 it rose to 15.8%, threatening the leadership.
Malas and BianLian Q3, ranked third and fifth respectively in the
previous quarter, are replaced by Play and 8Base.

Revenue Losses!
In September 2023,

MGM Resorts International suffered a major cyberattack affecting


its IT infrastructure, including its website, online reservation
systems, and casino services. The attack compromised the
personal information of customers who had engaged with MGM
before March 2019.

The company estimated a revenue loss of approximately $100


million due to the incident. The ransomware group Alphv claimed
responsibility for the attack, stating they still had access to some
of MGM’s infrastructure. They threatened further attacks if an
agreement was not reached.
