_Good evening, everybody. Is everyone here? OK. Good. Now, tonight we’re going to talk about the 1 thing you
need to create the best news stories. _Do you know what that is? No, I’m not talking about luck! The thing that
creates good news stories in curiosity-your own curiosity – your own curiosity. _Curiosity is the engine, the
power for the story. Curiosity will help you come up with good questions.
Now, remember, first you have to journalistic questions-you know: who, what, when, where, and why. Right?
We’re talked about these a lot. But these questions are just for starters. They're useful questions,_ but they’re
not sufficient by themselves. You have to expand on them. You have to get into probing questions. For example,
who else knows that? What do you think about this? When did you first find out about this? Where did you get
your information? Why do you care about this? These are the kinds of questions that will shape your story. And
you need to develop this kind of curiosity for every story you work on.

Halloween is one of the most famous holidays in the U.S., and it is on October 31. People carve pumpkins and make
funny faces on them. These are called "Jack-O-Lanterns." On October 31, children wear a special costume such as a
witch, ghost, or clown. They go to many houses and they knock on the door saying, "Trick or Treat!" It means that if
people don't give them a treat, they will play some kind of trick on the household. So, usually people give candy to them.
I carved my first Halloween pumpkin at my Friendship Family's house. First, I cut open the top of the pumpkin and pulled
the seeds out. It was not good for me because it was sticky and smelled bad. I had never carved a pumpkin, so it was
interesting for me. Next, I carved the eyes and the mouth. I wanted to make a face like a pirate. When I finished making
the face, I put a candle inside. It was very beautiful, so I was happy.

I got to my father's house at 2:00 PM on the same day and looked at my angry father's face. I felt ashamed of myself at
that moment. After I said hi to my angry father and tired uncle, my father asked me to sit next to him where he handed
me this watch which was a gift from him. Then he said, "Essa did you have fun with your friends today?" I answered,
"Yes father, and I'm sorry about not picking up my Uncle Ali." He said, "What you did was not very nice and you should
be sorry for your actions." I was ashamed and said, "Father I'll never do it again. I promise." He said, "I hope today you
learned something important, and this watch will be a reminder for you." He told me to take this watch and use it as an
organizer of my life.
I learned a very important lesson from my father: to respect time and never be late to get someone. This watch is
important to me, not because of its price, but because of the lesson that I learned from it.

Every year, thieves steal personal information from millions of people. How do they get this information? They have
many methods. Often, they steal wallets and purses containing identification and credit and bank cards. They also steal
mail by completing a "change of address form" to divert someone's mail to another location. By doing this, they can get
bank and credit card statements, pre-approved credit offers, telephone calling cards, and tax information. Another way
thieves get personal information is to search through someone's trash, or the trash of businesses, in a practice known as
"dumpster diving." They may even enter someone's home to get information.
Many times, though, thieves don't have to be near a person or a person's home to obtain personal information. They
can falsely obtain someone's credit report by posing as a landlord, employer or someone else who may have a legitimate
need for -- and a legal right to -- the information. They can steal someone's business or personnel records from that
person's workplace, or they can use personal information someone shares on the Internet. They can even buy
someone's personal information from "inside sources." For example, an identity thief may pay a store employee for
information about someone that appears on an application for goods, services, or credit.
