Introduction For An Argumentative Essay
Writing an introduction for an argumentative essay can prove to be a challenging task, demanding a
delicate balance between capturing the reader's attention and providing a clear roadmap for the
essay's argument. Crafting an effective introduction requires a deep understanding of the chosen
topic, meticulous research to gather relevant information, and the ability to present a compelling
thesis statement.
The difficulty lies in establishing a hook that not only intrigues the reader but also connects
seamlessly with the central argument. Striking the right tone is crucial – it should be persuasive
without being overly forceful, informative without giving away the entire argument, and engaging
enough to sustain the reader's interest.
Furthermore, one must navigate the complexities of introducing opposing viewpoints, acknowledging
their validity while positioning the essay's stance as more compelling. The process involves a careful
selection of language, ensuring a balance between assertiveness and respect for differing opinions.
Conciseness is another challenge. The introduction must provide enough context to orient the reader
but avoid unnecessary details that might overwhelm. It requires a honed skill in summarizing key
points and presenting them in a coherent and captivating manner.
In summary, crafting the introduction for an argumentative essay demands a blend of research skills,
persuasive writing techniques, and an acute awareness of the audience. It's a delicate dance between
presenting a captivating narrative and setting the stage for a robust argument to follow.

Dbq The Relationship Between English And Native Americans
After the discovery of two entire continents by Italian Christopher Columbus, Europeans
encountered the native people living among the vast territories. As Europeans continued
to spread out along the Atlantic Seaboard, relations and contact with natives became
more frequent. During the time period of the 1600s, the relations had a wide range
depending on circumstance and tribe. The pale strangers were suspicious to the natives
as some welcomed and supported as other tribes warred and attacked. Eventually after
another 100 years later, Natives were largely endangered due to war, disease and even
deportation. Ultimately the Europeans would become dominant among the vast
territories that had once been occupied by Native Americans. Native Americans were at
first very curious of the Europeans. Later into the 1600s as relations with them continued
these feelings developed into solid understandings and agreements between the two sides
developed into strong and intense feelings which were either negative or positive. As

The English, as noted in document A, made attempts to convert native children to
Christianity. English people would take native children, evaluate their worth according
to their own terms, and if deemed worthy they were educated and sent to do the work of
the English. As document A states, obtain unto themselves, by just means, a certain
number of the natives children to be educated by them in true religion and a civil
course of life of which children the most towardly [promising]... as to be fitted for the
college intended for them; that from thence they may be sent to that work of conversion.
The English felt that they had a moral obligation to convert as many people as possible
to Christianity. They also believed that since native people were inferior to themselves it
was only right that they should be grateful, obedient and hard
Why Was The Spanish Armada A Turning Point
Since the first humans picked up rocks and killed each other, war has grown and
changed, going from a way to solve small disputes to a massive enterprise involving all
of a country s resources. One example of such a war would have to be the one between
Spain and England in the 1500 s. What started as a mere religious conflict soon became
much more, with the full naval might of the two countries facing off. It culminated in a
huge battle between the massive Spanish Armadaand the much smaller English fleet.
With superior strategy, ships, and confidence, the English managed to not only fend off
the Spanish but handily defeat them, preventing what could have been a huge invasion
and disaster. Queen Elizabeth herself came to rally the troops, giving them the
confidence to triumph over the Spanish (Kallen, 2013). It is apparent that this battle
was a major battle and turning point in history. If the Spanish had won, history would
be completely different. It is for this reason that is can be considered a major turning
point in history. The battle between the Spanish Armada and the Royal Navy in 1588
was the culmination of half a century s worth of feud between the two countries
(Kallen, 2013). Like many other conflicts, it was rooted in geography. England, being
located on an island, was therefore reliant on overseas trade. Spain controlled nearly all
of the trade out of Europe, so therefore it was necessary to be allied with them if a
country wished to trade. Unfortunately for
Theme Of Loneliness In Catcher In The Rye
The Painfulness of Growing Up The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is a
Bildungsroman novel, on a young character named Holden, who finds the transition
from childhood to adulthood very painful. Holden is portrayed as a protagonist, who
wants to remain as a child forever as he fears the conflicts yet to come once he grows
up. The Ducks in the Central Lagoon, his sister Phoebe and loneliness are some of the
motifs mentioned in the novel, which keep him preserved in the world of innocence.
The motifs also keep Holden from experiencing and fearing the complexity of growing
up into the adult world. Whenever the Ducks in the Central Lagoon are mentioned in the
novel, Holden appears as a different and a unique person; this side of him displays
innocence and fear of unknown. The first time he mentions the ducks is when he is
talking to a taxi... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through his loneliness he has developed hatred towards adulthood, hence finds his
transition so harsh. Holden always isolates himself from people, in general. He
believes that he can ignore the phonies and stay pure and innocent like a kid, he will
never have to step through maturity through his isolation. However, his loneliness has
also caused a negative impact on his life, loneliness led him to being so self absorbed
that he does not realize that, growing up is not bad as it may seem. In the beginning of
the book when we are first introduced to Ackley, Holden is ignoring him, Hi, I said, but
I didn t look up from my book. (20) The main and only reason Holden became lonely
was when Allie passed away. After Allie s death, Holden realizes that once you grow
up there are so many problems you encounter. So, why not stay as a child. Since, kids
are known to be carefree about what s going around in the world. Hence, loneliness
plays a major role in Holden s life, which keeps him from stepping through his growth
and experiencing the outside
Analysis Of The Poem Nine Days Later
Nine days later Gray, nimbostratus clouds blanketed the L.A. skyline, the promise of
rain becoming more of a threat with each passing hour. However, the bleak, November
day suited Tom s pensive mood, the impending storm mirroring the tumultuous thoughts
brewing within his mind. After countless cups of coffee and only three hours sleep, he
was on edge, caught in a web of his own making. He wandered in aimless circles
around the living room floor, his pinched face showing clear signs of agitation, his heart
thumping rapidly in his chest. For the tenth time in less than five minutes, he glanced at
the clock, unsure if he wanted his visitor to arrive or not. But despite his apprehension,
he knew he needed to face his demons, and a gloomy... Show more content on

Hey, Coach, thanks for coming. The hard lines trenching Fuller s brow softened,
erasing years from his face. It s good to see you, Hanson, he murmured, his gaze taking
in Tom s appearance. You look... better. Embarrassed, Tom ducked his head, the
memories of their last meeting filling his mind. Teetering on the edge of a breakdown,
he d refused to reveal what had occurred at the Pi Tau hazing, and his reluctance to talk
had been a pivotal moment in their relationship. From then on, he d avoided contact,
preferring to relinquish his gun to Penhall rather than to the man who had an uncanny
ability to read his thoughts. But all that was in the past. The time had come to face the
captain who had helped mold him into the outstanding police officer he had once been.
Fuller s guidance had been invaluable, and although awkward, Tom knew he owed his
friend the apology he deserved. After closing the door, Tom motioned Fuller to the
couch. Once seated, he cleared his throat in readiness before speaking in a voice
trembling with regret. Cap n, I just want you to know I never meant Take a seat, Hanson.
The command caught Tom off guard, and he instinctively obeyed his superior without
questioning his demand. Moving over to the nearest chair, he sat down, his posture stiff
and formal. Unsure how to behave, his hands twisted in his lap, his nervous disposition
sending ripples of tension
The Mystery Of The Unicorn Hunters
The Problem with Banishment
With the name The Unicorn Hunters, one might think this group consists of delusional
people, but on the contrary The Unicorn Hunters are a group created for Lake Superior
State University (LSSU) to garner more support for the school. W.T. (Bill) Rabe created
the Unicorn Hunters after being hired as the Director of Public Relations at LSSU. The
group s popularity hails from their publicity stunts and other events, one of which
includes the annual List of Banished Words that first began in 1975 76 (Lake Superior
State University). This list consists of words and phrases that people wish to banish
from our language. The past lists show words that people generally disliked, overused,
or considered to be a negligent and lazy way to communicate.
After looking through the lists created by LSSU, the Freshman Composition I class
created their own list of banished words and compiled the data within various tables,
charts, and graphs. Next, by analyzing the data the class arrived to several conclusions
about the implications of the data. Group A, my group, was assigned to show how to
make a table of the top ten words, complete with title, labels, and caption.
First, friends, family, and strangers were surveyed and asked what words they would
like to banish from our language. As a result, the entire class compiled a list of over 500
words and phrases. Group A decided to create tables using multiple outlets to expand their
table making knowledge to more than
