Project Information
Research Title: EFFECTIVENESS OF THE LEITNER MEMORIZATION TECHNIQUE ON PRE-
TEST AND POST-TEST OF GRADE -11 STEM STUDENTS SCHOOL YEAR 2023-2024
Researchers: Aligrea Agtolao, Jillian Joy Bacuso, Jarah Gabin, Leanne Gomez, Danielle Shane
Na-oy, Mariene Saltin, Dancel Mharlo Tayaban
School: Kapangan Central National High School
Department: Senior High School

1. PURPOSE OF THIS RESEARCH STUDY

You are asked to participate in a research study that seeks to offer a memorization
technique that could be used by students in studying. This Leitner memorization technique is a
method that aims to boost academic performance and help students engage in academic
activities. Moreover, this will lead to better educational practices and equip students with lifelong
learning skills. Additionally, the study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Leitner Learning
System as a study technique.
Specifically, this study aims to answer the following questions: (1) What is the level of
effectiveness of using Leitner Study Memorization Technique to the third quarter pre– and post –
test of Grade 11 STEM students in DRRR subject? (2) What is the average pre and post test
scores of Grade 11 STEM students in the control group in their DRRR subject? (3) Is there a
stylistically significant difference between the pre and post test scores in DRRR subject of Grade
11 STEM students in the treatment group and control group?
2. PROCEDURES
You will be asked to join the pre-test. After the pre-test, participants in the study will be
given notes about the specific lessons identified by the researchers for the participants to review.
Then, participants will be asked to engage in the Leitner Learning System by using the flashcards
to memorize given by the researchers. After a week of applying Leitner Learning System, the
participants will be given a post- test to test their knowledge and how the LLS improves the
participants’ score.
The expected duration of your participation is from February 7, 2024 to February 16, 2024.
3. POSSIBLE RISKS OR DISCOMFORTS
No possible risks can pose danger to you in any form during the conduct of this study. The
implementation of the method may last for a week, or approximately 5 days with 15 minutes visit
on to the participant’s classroom for the implementation of LLS.
4. POSSIBLE BENEFITS
This research has practical implications for educators as it aids teachers in providing
guidance to the students on better learning strategies that will enhance active recall. Teachers can
encourage active learning and help students learn how to solve problems. Understanding these
strategies helps educators and students achieve better educational outcomes by ensuring that
students complete the curriculum objectives. Furthermore, for the institution of education, this
research will be helpful in terms of providing more information on how to effectively introduce a
study technique for students to make them academically proficient.
5. FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS
No amount will be required from you during your participation in this study
6. CONFIDENTIALITY
Your identity in this study will be treated with utmost confidentiality. The results will be
published for academic purposes only. However, any data obtained as a result of your participation
in this study may be checked by the person conducting this study and or by the research panelists.
7. TERMINATION OF RESEARCH STUDY
You are free to choose whether or not to participate in this study There will be no penalty if
you choose not to participate. You may withdraw from your participation at any time without
penalty.
8. AVAILABLE SOURCES OF INFORMATION
Any further questions you have about this study will be answered by the researcher.
