Midwest is proud to offer our Ultima Slick Shift 5 speed transmissions for Softail models 1990 thru 1999 & custom applications. 5 SPEED Special features include: Ultima transmission case cast in CNC machined permanent molds from A356 aluminum and hardened to T6 specifications, then fully machined on state-of the-art Mazak FH Horizontal Machining Center. Cases available in cast finish, polished finish or black powder coat finish. All Softail 5 speed models come with speedo hole, and includes speedo block off plate. Ultima polished billet trap door machined from 6061-T651 aluminum. 2.94:1 1st Gear on all 5 speed models provides close ratio shifting into 2nd gear. The shafts are 8620 with a case hardness to .070 depth; the cores are 35-38 HRC. Since we get many question regarding transmission gear ratios, a table of values for EV-80 transmissions is shown below along with an explanation of how the actual numbers are determined. The internal ration (in any gear) is a combination of the speed gear ratio and the main drive gear ratio. The numbers below are the numbers of teeth on each mating pair of gears.

To calculate the internal gear ratio in 2nd gear for example, multiply 32/17 times 27/23; (32/17 x 27/23) = 2.21. To calculate MPH per 1000 engine RPM: (assuming a 25 dia. rear wheel and a stock 3.37 final drive ratio); (25 x 3.14159) / 12 x (1000 / (3.37 x 60) x (3.0 / 4.4.) = 22.07 MPH per 1000 engine RPM (in 5th gear). To calculate MPH per 1000 engine RPM in 3rd gear: Divide 22.07 by 1.60 (22.07 / 1.60) = 13.8 MPH per 1000 engine RPM (in 3rd gear). The 5 speed gear box has actually been around for several years but the growing number of modifications for the EV 1340 engine has created a lot more interest in it. In addition to close ratio first gears, Andrews Products also makes replacement gears for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear sets. As with the close first gears, all 5 speed gears are made from high nickel alloy and heat treated and shot-peened to give maximum durability and strength. Also, where applicable, lead-in ramps have been machined into some gears to improve shifting and reduce wear on drive dogs and drive slots. 3.24 Stock ratio 1st gears of high nickle steel with lead-in ramps for quicker, more positive shifting. 96-642 1st main, 18 teeth. This custom design simulated kickstarter kit has a hydraulic clutch release, when operated it will engage your electric starter by means of a hidden electric switch. Gives that old school look and feel without the effort of old style kickstarters. This kit is easy to install and comes beautifully chrome plated. CNC made from 6061-T6 aluminum & includes kickstarter arm & pedal as shown in picture. The clutch basket features 12 cylindrical replaceable clutch dogs. The polished pressure plate uses 6 shoulder bolts and springs which allows simple installation. Their quiet clutch features Kevlar clutch plates for maximum performance and minimal noise. This is a complete primary drive system, 1-34 or 3 belt, front and rear pulleys, a clutch and hub assembly with clutch plates, springs, and pressure plate. The pulleys are machined from 356T6 aluminum aircraft alloy and anodized for maximum strength and durability. Dont forget this is a complete primary drive system clutch and all!
