Q1) A 20-mm diameter rod made of an experimental plastic is subjected to a tensile force of magnitude P= 6kN. Knowing that an elongation of 14 mm and a decrese in diameter of 0.85 mm are observed in a 150-mm length, determine the modulus of elasticity, the modulus of rigidity and poissons ratio for the material.
Q2) The composite bar in fig.2 is stress-free before the axial loads P1 and P2 are applied. Assuming that the walls are rigid, calculate the stress in each material if P1=150 kN and P2=90 kN .

The wires also support a load P acting at the midpoint of the bar. The diameter of the steel wires is 2 mm, and the diameter of the aluminum wire is 4 mm. What load Pallow can be supported if the allowable stress in the steel wires is 220 MPa and in the aluminum wire is 80 MPa? (Assume Es = 210 GPa and Ea = 70 GPa.)

The cube is constrained against deformations in the Y and Z directions and is subjected to a tensile load of 65 kN in the X-direction.
