I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners shall demonstrate and understanding of concepts and
underlying principles in performing computer operations.

B. Performance Standard The learners shall be able to perform computer operations based on a given
tasks.

C. Learning Select, open, and close desktop for navigation purposes.

Review Review the different Operating System by playing a game called:


“Pokemon OS Mode“.
Direction: The student will identify the operating system base on the clue
that will flash on the screen. “INDICATOR 1-EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGY-
CSS-OPERATING SYSTEM”

Motivation Flash an image of Bicycle, Motorcycle, Bangka Boat, and Airplane. The
Student will explain how each object are used. “INDICATOR
1-SCIENCE/PHYSICS”

WHAT IS A DESKTOP?

When referring to an operating system or GUI (graphical user interface), the


desktop is a system of organization of icons on a screen.

PARTS OF WINDOWS DESKTOP

1. Start Menu - It lets you launch applications, shut down your computer,
access system settings, and much more.

2. Search Box - The search box allows you to quickly search your computer
and the Internet at a point, right from the taskbar.

3. Task View / Timeline - Allows you to again manage your virtual desktops,
but also view websites and files that have been used for the last 30 days, if
you choose to activate it.

4. Pinned Apps - Applications that you use commonly can be pinned to your
taskbar. By default, Windows has a couple that it pins for you.

5. Task Tray - If an application is open, and has not been pinned to the
taskbar, it will show in the task tray.
6. Notification Tray & Clock - The notification tray shows icons of
applications that are running in the background and provides access to
Internet and sound settings.

7. Action Center - The Action Center is Windows' main notification system.

8. Desktop Icons - The desktop holds application icons.

9. Desktop Background - The desktop holds your desktop icons and has a
customizable background image.

HISTORY OF WINDOWS DESKTOP

WINDOWS XP - 2001

Windows XP is an operating system produced by Microsoft as part of the


Windows NT family of operating systems. It was the successor to both
Windows 2000 for professional users and Windows Me for home users. It
was released to manufacturing on August 24, 2001, and broadly released for
retail sale on October 25, 2001

WINDOWS VISTA - 2006

Windows Vista is an operating system produced by Microsoft as a member


of the Windows NT family of operating systems for use on personal
computers. It was released to manufacturing on November 8, 2006.

WINDOWS 7 - 2009

Windows 7 is an operating system that was produced by Microsoft and


released as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. It was
released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009, and became generally available
on October 22, 2009.

WINDOWS 8 - 2012

Windows 8 is an operating system that was produced by Microsoft, released


as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. The product was
released to manufacturing on August 1, 2012, and generally to retail on
October 26, 2012.

WINDOWS 10 - 2015

Windows 10 is a series of operating systems developed by Microsoft and


released as part of its Windows NT family of operating systems. It is the
successor to Windows 8.1, released nearly two years earlier, and was
released to manufacturing on July 15, 2015, and broadly released for the
general public on July 29, 2015.

Demonstrate the different Windows Desktop to the students using actual
operating system installed in a virtual machine.

Present the Chart that shows the market share of desktop operating
systems worldwide.

DIRECTION: Identify the parts of the Desktop. Write your answer in the
answer sheet.

Application HADS-ON ACTIVITY: COMPUTER DESKTOP NAVIGATION

DIRECTION: Each student must be able to navigate the correct function or


command of the computer desktop based on the problem that will be
provided by the teacher. The teacher will provide a maximum of 8 problems
for each student, each problem has a corresponding point base on the
provided rubrics.

The following are the task to be performed by the students:

 Navigate the sleep,shutdown, restart option.


 Search for the " ASSESSMENT.jpeg' file using the
Search box.
 Create New Desktop using taskview.
 Add the MS Word application in Pinned Apps.
 Open The Date and Time.
 Change the Mode to Tablet.
 Create a shortcut for MS Powerpoint.
 Change the Desktop Background.
