make the tent. Allow 20% extra for folds and stiching.Give your answer to the

i. Solve the following quadratic equation by the formula method and write the
roots correct to 2 decimal places. (x +1) (x + 4) + 1 = 0

i. The fourth term of an AP is 11 and the 8th term exceeds twice the fourth term by

ii. In the given figure ABCD is a trapezium such that


AB is parallel to CD. The diagonals AC and BD
intersect each other at 0. Prove that:
(a) ΔOCD ~ ΔOAB
(b) If OA = (2p +1), OB= (5p- 3), OC = ( 6p- 5) and OD=
(3p -1),
find the value/s of p.

iii. A (1, 4), B (3, 2) and C (7, 5) are the vertices of Δ ABC. Find:
(a) the co-ordinates of the centroid G of ΔABC.
(b) the equation of a line through G and parallel to AB.

I. Solve the following inequation and represent the solution set on a number line.

II. Draw a line segment AB = 6cm. Construct a circle with AB as diameter. Mark a
point P at 7cm from the mid-point of AB. Construct two tangents from P to the
circle with AB as diameter. Measure and write down the length of the tangents.
III. Rs. 7500 were divided equally among a certain number of children. Had there
been 20 less children, each would have received Rs. 100 more. Find the original
number of children.

i. From a point on the ground the angle of elevation of the bottom and top of a
water tank kept at the top of 20 m high tower are 45° and 60° respectively. Find
the height of the water tank to the nearest meter.

ii. The inner circumference of the rim of a circular metal tub is 44 cm. Find:
(a) The inner radius of the tub

(b) The volume of the material of the tub if its outer radius is 8 cm. Useπ = 7
Give your answer correct to three significant figure.

iii. The line 4x - 3y + 12 = 0 meets the x-axis at A. Write down the co-ordinates of A.
Find the equation of the line passing through A and perpendicular to 4x - 3y + 12
=0

I. A manufacturer sells a mobile set for 35,000 to a wholesaler who sells it to a
retailer at a profit of 15%. The retailer sells it to a customer at 10% profit. If the
rate of GST is 18%, calculate:
(a) The price paid by the retailer for the mobile.
(b) GST paid by the retailer to the government.
(c)The price paid by the customer for the mobile.

II. Construct a triangle ABC in which AB = 5.6 cm, AC = BC = 9 cm. Find a point 4 cm
from A and equidistant from B and C.
III. In the adjoining diagram, TB is a tangent to the circle at B with Centre O .
Segment TO meets the circle at C and A. D is another point on the circle. L BTC =
22°. Calculate:
a) L BOC b) L OAB c) L ABT d)L BDC

i. In the given figure, PQ is a transverse common tangent to two circles with
centres A and B and of radius 5 cm and 3 cm respectively. If PQ intersects AB at
C such that QP= 16 cm, calculate AB in surd form only.
