Carrie

The reason for this essay is to make known the author Stephen King, change the ideology
that is held of him and encourage people to read his works since they usually talk about
very common topics in people so they can be of great help and entertainment for lovers of
horror and fiction.
There are millions of horror books from long to short, with really good writers such as
Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelly, H.P Lovecraft among others, however always excelled one
due to his terrifying works, undoubtedly the most recognized, so he was named "The King
of Terror" Stephen Edwin King American writer winner of multiple awards such as the
World Fantasy Career (2004), Hugo Award for Best Non-Fiction Book (1982 with the
Danza Macabra), Edgar Award for Best Novel (2015 with Mr. Mercedes), among many
others, this writer has published more than 67 novels, 11 collections of short stories, 7
books on fiction and some film scripts that have reached the big screen 1408, The Green
Mile, It, Flames of Vengeance, Doctor Sleep, 1922, Cursed Cemetery, The Dark Tower, The
Shining and Carrie, Have you ever read or seen any of these works? I'm sure itis , since
several of his novels and short stories have been adapted to various media, such as
movies, television series and comics, and these have been very successful and recognized.
On the other hand, people who know little about this author usually think that he only
writes horror works which always deal with supernatural apparitions and unexpected
scares, but this is not so several of his novels talk about very human fears such as the fear
of losing a loved one and also about some disorders such as eating.
Some time ago Stephen commented in the prologue of his collection of stories "All dark
and starless" that the most sincere feeling that a human being can feel is fear, this comes
from a very old and primitive part of our mind. Real fear is a radial confluence of
sensations and half-built memories of a version of the unknown created by our mind.
So what the King of Terror meant is that each of us has our own closet monster, a wicked
creature that smiles at you from the darkness as you try to convince yourself that it's only
the go we can create or imagine.
Leaving aside the incredible words of King we will focus on one of his best works in my
opinion, which is "Carrie" this horror novel was one of the author's first, which tells us the
terrible case of a girl of a not very good appearance which has supernatural powers that
cause dread to the people around her, Carrie is a teenage victim of bullying, tired of this
and the abuse of her fanatically religious mother decides to take revenge in the worst
possible way by making use of her abnormal abilities.
This book is one of my favorites because it talks about very serious and common issues in
the life of a teenager such as bullying, family abuse, puberty, among other things for
which people of the age can feel identified and know the damage they can cause to a
person if they are a victim of bullying, Not to mention that the way in which the author
tries to convince you as if it were a real case leaving aside the paranormal is one of my
favorite things.
