People you live with or are travelling with should also self-isolate for 10 days from the day after you took a test.
If you received a positive test result for the test taken on or before day 2, you do not need to take the day 8 test. People you are travelling with
must still take a day 8 test if they have travelled from an amber list country, unless they are exempt.
You may be contacted for contact tracing and to check that you, and those who you live or are travelling with, are self-isolating.
You must not travel, including to leave the UK, during self-isolation.
NEGATIVE: Your coronavirus (COVID-19) test result is NEGATIVE. You did not have the virus when the test was done.
You are not required to quarantine if you are travelling from a green list country.
If you are travelling from an amber list country, and are within the exempt category, you are not required to quarantine or take a day 8 test.
If you are travelling from an amber list country and are not exempt, if you took the test on or before day 2 of your quarantine period, you
must continue to quarantine until you have completed the 10 day quarantine and received a negative result for a test taken on day 8. If you
took the test on day 8 you may stop quarantine when you have completed your 10-day quarantine period.
It’s a legal requirement to quarantine when you arrive in England. If you are contacted by the enforcement authorities or the police after you
have received this negative result please show them this notification.
UNCLEAR: Your coronavirus test result is UNCLEAR. It’s not possible to say if you had the virus when the test was done.
If you are were self-isolating as an international arrival, you must, by law, continue self-isolating for the remainder of your self-isolation
period as an international arrival travelling to the UK from a non-exempt country, territory or region. You may be contacted to check that you
are self-isolating. If you want to shorten your self-isolation period you will need to take another test for international arrivals. For more
information, go to https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-test-to-release-for-international-travel.
This is a valid result where the test has picked up some low strength signals but not with the required level of certainty to return a positive
result. Unclear results are typically seen in patients at very early onset of infection, can be the result of a poor quality swabbing of an active
infection or in patients who have previously had an infection (it can take many weeks after an infection for a patient to return a negative
result). If you have not recently tested positive for coronavirus, a retest with a fresh sample is advised (additional sample fee applies).
FAIL: Your coronavirus test result is FAIL. It’s not possible to say if you had the virus when the test was done.

Your sample contained insufficient human genetic material. Our test looks for this genetic material as an indication that a sufficient sample
specimen has been collected during the swabbing process to return a valid result.
VOID: Your coronavirus test was rejected due to an issue (eg. Damaged sample tube, out of validity, no label, incorrect submission etc).
The reason for your VOID test will be listed in the comments section on page one.

RETEST: Your coronavirus test has been tested but needs to be reprocessed (free of charge). This is unavoidable and occurs in a very
small number of samples. The retest will be taken from the existing sample. Unfortunately, this will delay the issuing of your final result.
