Design of Precast Form Slabs
Shear Design:
Applied shear force has been calculated through the shear stress contours.
For design against shear, first we will check the shear capacity of
Airdeck slabs having 100% box occupancy then we will figure out that how
many boxes we have remove to reach the required shear strength.

From Screen shot On page 43-45 max. shear stress is noted 0.30N/mm and

below is design for more as following

Applied Shear Stress:

2
Sstress = 0.40 N/mm (maximum shear stress as per shear stress contours)
(SQX or SQY)
bw = 1000.0 mm (width of slab)
h = 250.00 mm (thickness of slab)

Shear Stress (Sstress) = Shear Force (V) / Area (bwxh)

Therefore;
Vapplied = 100.00 kN (at center line of beam)

7\SLFDO6KHDU'LDJUDP5HSUHVHQWLQJ6KHDU)RUFHVEHWZHHQ6ODEV %HDPV

Vapplied = 88.89 kN (at face of the beam, by using similar traiangles)

Design of Precast Form Slabs
Concrete Shear Strength:
Validation of Cross Sectional Dimension:
Vu ч ࡏ(Vc + 0.066(fc')0.5 bw d) ( ACI318M-14 Provision 22.5.1.2)

For member subject to shear and flexure:

Vc = 0.17(fc')0.5 bw d ( ACI318M-14 Provision 22.5.5.1)
where;
fc' = 45.00 MPa
bw = 270.0 mm (3 nos. 90mm ribs in 1 meter i.e. 3x90=270mm)
d = 220.0 mm (effective depth with concrete cover = 30m)
ࡏ = 0.75 mm
so,
Vc = 67739.44331 N
= 67.74 kN
And;
ࡏ(Vc + 0.066(fc')0.5 bw d) = 70.53 kN

Vu < ࡏ(Vc+0.066(fc')0.5bwd)
INCREASE CROSS SECTIONAL DIMENSIONS

Concrete Shear Capacity:

ࡏVc = 50.80 kN

Therefore, it is clear that with 100% box occupancy the shear strength of concrete
is not enough and removal of boxes under shear zone is necessary

bb = 210.0 mm (bottom widht of one box)

nr = 3 (no. of boxes per 1 meter)
nb = 3 (no. of ribs per 1 meter)

Therefore we have to remove 2 boxes per 1 meter width to provide safe shear
resistane against applied shear.
In Staad model grids are 900mm apart and shear stress distribution shows that maxi-
mum shear occur not beyond than 1.5 grids (approximately), therefore in transverse
dirstion of slab we will remove three boxes.
(see attached shop drawings at the end of this report showing the removal of boxes)
