A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction


Grade 12 | Second Semester | SY 2023 – 2024

Teaching Time: 7:30am-5:30 pm Quarter: Second

I. OBJECTIVES

1. Define disaster risk.


2. Appreciate the significance of knowing disaster risks and how it may affect one’s
life.
3. Compare and contrast hazard from a disaster through a Venn Diagram.

A. Content Standards

The learners demonstrate understanding of.


1. Concept of disaster.
2. Concept of disaster risk.
3. Nature of disasters
4. Effects of disasters.

B. Performance Standards

The learners relate the concept of disaster with daily life.

A. Preliminary Activities

 Welcome Greetings
 Classroom Management
 Checking of Attendance
 The teacher will select a student to recap their understanding of the previous
lesson.

B. Developmental Activity

 The teacher groups the students into five teams.


 Each group will be given ramble words. Each group will be given 3 minutes to
arrange the words and form the correct statement about disaster. After 3
minutes, the groups will write the correct statement on the board.

Group 1: Disasters are emergencies that cannot be handled by those affected


without outside assistance.
Group 2: Disasters are caused by natural or manmade events wherein
communities experience severe danger.
Group 3: Disasters incur loss of lives and properties causing disruption to their
social.
Group 4: Disasters can be less damaging if the population has better
understanding of locally-experienced hazards.
Group 5: Disasters can be less damaging if the population implements
preventive or mitigating measures against them.
 Ask the students what they feel and learn about the activity.

C. LESSON PROPER

 The teacher will now discuss the topic about the Disaster Risk and Risk
Factors Underlying Disaster.
 Ask the students their understanding about the characteristics and disaster risk.
 Allowed the students to ask questions about the topic.
 Then, the teacher will facilitate the learners through giving additional
information and correct the misconceptions of the students about the topic.

D. ENRICHMENT/APPLICATION

 The teacher will be going to group the students into five.


 They were going to imagine on what will they do if they are in each situation
and how would you act if you were placed in a different location. List the
possible things that you can do to avoid getting harmed.
