The Data Privacy Act of 2012 (DPA), also known as Republic Act No. 10173, is a law that aims to protect
the fundamental human right to privacy of individuals in

relation to the processing of personal information in the information and communications technology
(ICT) sector. The law was enacted on August 15, 2012, and took effect on September 8, 2016.

Under the Cybercrime Prevention Act, cyberbullying is considered a form of online harassment and is
punishable by law. The penalties for cyberbullying vary depending on the severity of the offense:

1.Do not participate or encourage: Refrain from engaging in or contributing to the cyberbullying. Avoid
sharing, liking, or commenting on any harmful content. It's crucial not to perpetuate or amplify the
bullying behavior.

2.Offer support and empathy: Reach out to the person being cyberbullied privately and offer your
support. Let them know that you are there for them, that they are not alone, and that you care about
their well-being. Encourage them to talk about their feelings and experiences.

3.Document the evidence: Take screenshots or gather any evidence of the cyberbullying. This
documentation may be useful later when reporting the incident to the appropriate authorities or
platforms.

4. Report the cyberbullying: Report the cyberbullying to the relevant platform or website where it is
occurring. Most social media platforms, websites, and online services have mechanisms for reporting
abusive or inappropriate content. Utilize these reporting features to bring attention to the issue and seek
intervention.

Remember, staying smart and calm doesn't mean ignoring or tolerating the cyberbullying. It means
responding thoughtfully, seeking support, and taking appropriate steps to address the issue effectively
while prioritizing your well-being.
