At360 Target Quick Start Guide - Rev D
The Trimble® Active Track 360 Target is a 360° active target designed to be used for
robotic surveying.
The Trimble Active Track 360 Target has an integrated 360° active LED ring for
tracking and reflective foil for distance measurements.
The Trimble Active Track 360 Target is powered by a lithium-ion battery. For
permanent installations, it can also be powered via the connector by connecting to
an external power supply. The connector is also used if you need to update the target
firmware.
It is possible to select eight unique ID channels to ensure that the correct target is
tracked on a site where multiple targets are used.
The Trimble Active Track 360 Target is equipped with Bluetooth® wireless technology.
Built-in tilt sensors offer the possibility for eBubble functionality, if supported by the
field software.

BATTERY
Charging the battery
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is supplied partially charged. Before using the
battery for the first time, charge it completely using a Trimble battery charger (not
included).
C CAUTION – Before charging the lithium-ion battery, please make sure that you
have read and understand the battery safety information in this document.

OPERATION OF THE ACTIVE TRACK 360 TARGET
Turn on the Active Track 360 Target
Press the On/Off button to turn on the target.
The target will stay powered on until you press the On/Off button to turn the target off
or if the battery is drained.
Battery low is indicated by a flashing LED for the currently selected ID channel.
When the same ID channel selected on the target is selected in the field software, this
target is the only one that the instrument will lock on to and track.
To select the ID channel, press the ID channel selection button. The ID channel
selection steps up one channel for each press from 1 to 8. After ID channel 8 the
selection starts again at ID channel 1. It is also possible to select the ID channel from
the controller via Bluetooth wireless technology, if supported by the field software.

Attach and detach
To connect to other Trimble survey equipment and accessories, the Active Track 360
Target is equipped with a 5/8" thread bolt on top of the target and a 5/8" thread
socket at the bottom of the target.
C CAUTION – Do not tighten or unscrew the Active Track 360 Target by holding the
target. Too much force when tightening or unscrewing the Active Track 360 Target
might damage the chassis. Use a spanner, adjustable spanner or Key Trimble (not
included). See figure below.

battery can cause an explosion or fire, and can result in personal injury and/or

– Do not use or charge the battery if it appears to be damaged. Signs of damage
include, but are not limited to, discoloration, warping, and leaking battery fluid.
– Do not expose the battery to fire, high temperature, or direct sunlight.
– Do not immerse the battery in water.
– Do not use or store the battery inside a vehicle during hot weather.
– Do not drop or puncture the battery.
– Do not open the battery or short-circuit its contacts.
