About Author:
Ionel Teodoreanu was a famous Romanian novelist between the two World Wars. He is mostly
remembered for his books on childhood and adolescence themes. Born in Iai into a family of
intellectuals, Teodoreanu followed his father (Osvald Teodoreanu) and older brother (Pstorel
Teodoreanu, himself a well-known writer) in studying law and becoming a lawyer. After graduating
the National Highschool in Iai, he obtained his Law degree in 1919. Although he worked as a
lawyer, he was more attracted to literature.
He made his debut in 1919, with the Bunicii ("The Grandparents") sketch, in the review Însemnri
literare. His editorial debut was represented by the short story volume Ulia copilriei ("Childhood
Lane", 1923). Like his brother Pstorel - a renowned epigrammatist - he was linked to the Viaa
Româneasc group led by Garabet Ibrileanu (who considered Ionel Teodoreanu to be one of the
most promising writers of the generation following World War I).
In Iai, under Ibrileanu's leadership, he took active part in one of the most vibrant cultural
movements in Romania between the two World Wars. In this environment, Ionel Teodoreanu
published his classic novel trilogy ("In Medeleni") (1925 - 1927); its publishing was welcomed by
Ibrileanu with an enthusiastic review.

Rewiews:
An interesting fact is that the location existed, and it's the actual house the author lived in. It's a
pity a couple of years ago it was scheduled to be demolished by an investor wanting to build a
new apartment complex. I wonder
It started as a very good satire over the education system, be it over teachers or students, but it
evolved into something else...
Like all of the author's books, it is pure poetry in prose form, with beautiful metaphors throughout.
Hard to find, but if you do...read it!
