MAPEH REVIEWER

3RD QUARTER

ANTONIO MOLINA the first National Artist for Music, is considered one of the “Triumvirate of Filipino Composers”
which includes Nicanor Abelardo and Francisco Santiago
LUCIO SAN PEDRO known as a “romantic nationalist. His chords have a rich expressive tonality, as represented in his
well-loved Sa Ugoy ng Duyan, a lullaby melody sung by his mother.
RYAN CAYABYAB is a popular contemporary composer who also has classical compositions to his credit. His
compositional style makes much use of syncopation, extended chords, and chromatic harmony. Among his
numerous compositions are the award-winning Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika.

CONTEMPORARY MUSIC is a musical term that defines a wide range of compositions that adopt ideas and elements
from modern music.
FRANCISCO SANTIAGO the “Father of the Kundiman” and belongs to the “Triumvirate of Filipino Composers.”
NICANOR ABELARDO is one of the “Triumvirate of Filipino Composers” which includes Antonio Molina and
Francisco Santiago. He developed a style that combined European romanticism with chromaticism. His compositions
contain hazy tones, dissonance and unusual chordal combinations. His best-known compositions include Mutya ng
Pasig, Nasaan Ka Irog, Cavatina for Violoncello, and Magbalik Ka Hirang.

 Antonio Molina, Francisco Santiago and Nicanor Abelardo were considered to be the
Triumvirate of Filipino Composers”.

 Francisco Santiago known to be the “”Father of Kundiman”.

 Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika was best known-composed of Ryan Cayabyab.

 The following are the best-known compositions of Nicanor Abelardo (Magbalik ka hirang,
Nasaan ka irog, Mutya ng Pasig).

 Lucio San Pedro is considered a composer in the Romantic style.


 Sa Ugoy ng Duyan is a lullaby melody song sang by Lucio San Pedro’s mother.
 Ryan Cayabyab’s compositional style makes much use of syncopation, extended chords, and
chromatic harmony.
 Nicanor Abelardo’s compositions contain hazy tones, dissonance and unusual chordal
combinations.
 The Traditional music of the Philippines, reflects the life of common, mostly rural Filipinos.

A Technology - Driven Art the need to view these moving images led to the rise of the kinetoscope, a peep show
cabinet with an eyehole through which this earliest “movies” could be viewed one person at a time.
Director- like the painter and sculpture in traditional art, who envisions the final effect of the film on its viewers,
visually, mentally, and emotionaly. while the painter and sculptor work with physical materials.
Cinematography or the art of film camera work. this captured the director’s vision of each scene through camera
placement and movement, lighting, and other special techniques

 Film is the early name of cinema that it brings another dimension into play that of moving
images.

 Kinetoscope is a peepshow cabinet with an eyehole through which these earliest “movies” could
be viewed one person at a time is called .

 Mr. Manuel Gio is in-charge of designing and creating the sets, arranging the location, choosing
scenery, costume and props of the actors, Mr. Gio is a set designer.

 Marilou Diaz Abaya directed the 1998 film José Rizal, it is a biographical film of the Filipino patriot
José Rizal, starring Cesar Montano as José Rizal. This movie was rated SPG, there are graphic
depictions of violence, nudity and even torture.
 Ishmael Bernal, a director who created the film “Himala”; Elsa played by Nora Aunor witnessed
an apparition of the Virgin Mary on top of the hill where as an infant she was found and adapted by
Saling played by Vangie Labalan.

 Brillante Mendoza is a Filipino independent filmmaker and won an award for best director for film
“Kinatay”; a young man needing cash takes a job that pays well, not realizing he has to kill a
woman played by Coco Martin.

 Magnifico film was directed by Maryo J. Delos Reyes where a Boy played by Jiro Manio builds a
coffin for his terminally ill grandmother, while raising money to buy wheelchair for his sister.

 Biographical film dramatizes the life of a non-fictional or historically-based person or people.

 Slapstick Film are comedy films where physical comedy that includes pratfalls, tripping, falling,
practical jokes, mistakes, are highlighted over dialogue, plot, and character development.

Hip-hop is a cultural movement best known for its impact on music in the form of the musical genre of the same
name. It originated in Bronx, New York City during the 1970s, mostly among African Americans and some influence
of Latin Americans.
Hip-hop culture is composed of the pillars such as DJ-ing, rapping, breakdancing, and graffiti art.
LOCKING also called as Campbel locking, was created by Don Campbellock Campbell in 1969 in Los Angeles,
California. It was popularized by his crew, The Lockers.
It is a type of dance that is very similar to popping. Both movements seem to have a “PAUSE”. The difference is, in
locking, the dancers hold their positions called the LOCK, longer.
KRUMPING It is an expressive, exaggerated, and highly energetic dance.
TUTTING is an upper-body dance that uses arms, hands, and wrists in a creative way to make geometric shapes
forming a right angle.
POPPING
was popularized by Samuel Boogaloo Sam Solomon and his crew, the Electric Boogaloos. It was created in Fresno,
California in the 1970s.
It is characterized by its robotic elements contracting or jerking the muscles of the body which is called pop or a hit.
B-BOYING also called breakdancing, is a style of street dance and the first hip-hop dance style that was created in
the South Bronx New York City.

One of the recreational activities that you can perform regularly is dancing. A form of dance that is fun, enjoyable,
and beneficial is street and hip-hop dance. Street dance can be considered as the father of hip-hop dancing. The
term is an informal and improvised style of dance that has evolved outside dance studios.
Hip-hop can be a cardio- aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise. One can benefit from both. Aerobic benefits can
be achieved when the heart rate and breathing rate increase. On the other hand, anaerobic benefits are achieved
when muscles in the different parts of the body like arms, thighs and legs are strengthened by physical activity like
dancing.

 The Exercise Program Guide is used to serve as a guide to help everyone select activities that
best fit their lifestyle and health needs.

 Running, walking, jumping rope, and lifting weights are examples of Muscle-strengthening
activity.

 Hip-hop culture is created by Dj-ing, rapping, breakdancing, and graffiti art

 Krumping is a dance style is used to express free emotions like anger and is highly energetic

 Tutting is the body’s ability to create geometric shapes and positions, predominantly with the
use of right angles

 Waacking is African American dance form originated from the disco era in New York City
 Punk Dance is a form of street dance is performed impromptu in large crowds?

Global alliance for Vaccine and Immunization


 It is the global strategy which aims to strengthen children’s immunization programs and
introduce a new generation of license vaccines into use in developing countries across the
globe.

Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, Malaria

 It is the global effort to prevent further transmission of Tuberculosis or TB around the world
and to reduce the number of deaths from malaria infection though heightened prevention tools, rapid
response to outbreaks, development of new antimalarial product, and effective treatment of the
infection.
 It is funding project rather than an initiative and helps in the prevention, reduction, and mitigation
of the negative impacts of the three diseases to humanity which contributes to the fulfillment of
the Millennium Development Goals.

WHO FCTC is the prime international treaty negotiated under WHO.

HIV/AIDS disease is the leading cause of death among people who live in developing countries

Africa recorded the highest Death Rate among children aged 5 years and below

MDG Stands for Millennium Development Goals.

These are Goals sets by the United Nations for its member – nations to be fulfilled on an agreed span
of time to be evaluated and counter – checked under world standards.
The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations aims to strengthen children’s immunization
programs especially in developing countries. These are Hepatitis Vaccine, Influenza Vaccine,
Pneumonia Vaccine.

GLOBAL HEALTH is the understanding of health care in an international and interdisciplinary context. It includes the
study, research, and practice of medicine with focus and emphasis on improving health and health care equity for
populations worldwide.

Global Fund is a partnership designed to accelerate the end of AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria as epidemics. - is a
financing mechanism rather than an implementing agency.
 HEALTH INITIATIVES
Accelerating the end of AIDS, TB, Malaria as epidemics - Global Fund mobilizes and invests more than 4 billion dollars
a year to support programs run by local experts in more than 100 countries.

Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI) a global Vaccine Alliance, bringing together public and
private sectors with the shared goal of creating equal access to new and underused vaccines for children living in the
world’s poorest countries.
 HEALTH INITIATIVES
Innovation for Uptake, Scale and Equity in Immunization (INFUSE). It seeks to bridge the gap between vaccine
delivery innovators and implementing countries.

World Health Organization It is designated to serve as the lead agency tasked to direct and coordinate with all
member nations regarding leadership, supervision, technical support, and education on matters about health.

Alliance for Healthy Cities -It is an international network aiming to protect and enhance the health of city dwellers
thru legislations and issuances.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) It is the United Nations' global development network. It
advocates for change and connects countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help people build a better
life for themselves.

UNDP Strategic Plan -It is anchored on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and committed to the
principles of universality, equality and leaving no one behind
