Greetings!

Don Enrique Bustamante National High School is indebted to the support it has been
receiving from the community stakeholders countless times. Hence, to reciprocate the
favor and as part of the community linkage activities stipulated in the Annual
Implementation Plan (AIP) of the school for SY 2022-2023, the undersigned would like
to initiate the conduct of the Bloodletting Activity. This is a great way to help save
lives as we believe that “Blood is Life”. This is planned to take place on May 6, 2023
(Saturday) at the School Covered Court from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This activity is
expected to be participated by students, various organizations and residents of Bago
Gallera and neighboring barangays.

The undersigned have coordinated with the Red Cross Davao Chapter Office, and they
have signified their technical assistance on the said activity.

Please find the attached Activity Proposal, Activity Matrix, and List of Technical
Working Committee.

I. RATIONALE:

Blood donation is the act of giving life. Every ounce of blood donated can serve as a
lifeline for those in need of life-saving blood transfusions. Anyone's blood can save every
person, from a little baby to an old individual. One cannot make blood; it is a gift we all
have inside of us to give to those who are injured, sick or in need.
There's no doubt that the need for blood is huge. Hence, the support of donors has an
enormous impact in helping the people in achieving a healthier, happier, and fruitful life.
In relation to this, Republic Act No. 7719, also known as the National Blood Services Act
of 1994, promotes voluntary blood donation to provide sufficient supply of safe blood and to
regulate blood banks. This act aims to inculcate public awareness that blood donation is a
humanitarian act.

Activity Rationale:
Don Enrique Bustamante National High School, in coordination with the
Philippine Red Cross Davao Chapter will officially conduct the " DEBNHS LANG
SA.KA.LA.M! (SAgop KAtilingban, Laban Mo!) : A BLOOD LETTING ACTIVITY" on
May 6, 2023, 8:00am at Don Enrique Bustamante National High School Covered Court,
Bago Gallera, Talomo, Davao City that aims to save more lives through a blood
donation drive.
The blood-letting program will be conducted as stipulated in the validated and
appraised School Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) for SY 2022-2023 that the school
shall be engaged in worthwhile outreach programs that will respond to the needs of the
local community. This is in partnership with Philippine Red Cross for the Promotion of
First Aid, Youth Development, Volunteerism, Health Safety, Community Resilience, and
the International Humanitarian Law. The screening of blood donors shall be done by
the Red Cross personnel on the day and venue of donation.
Objective:
Specifically, this activity aims to:
1. facilitate the collection of blood that will be utilized in saving the lives of people
who are in need of blood;
2. promote and encourage voluntary blood donation in the community and to instill
public consciousness on the principle that blood donation is a humanitarian act
and that the provision of blood for transfusion is not a sale of a commodity;
3. provide for adequate, safe, affordable and equitable distribution of supply of
blood and blood products;
4. inform the public of the benefits and the need for voluntary blood donation to
curb the hazards caused by the commercial sale of blood; and
5. mobilize all the sectors of the community to participate in programs and activities
on voluntary and non-profit collection of blood.
Expected Output:
At the end of this activity, the participants are expected to have donated a certain
amount of blood voluntarily with the intent of helping the community people in need of
blood.
