BULLETIN
INTRODUCTION
This bulletin provides a checklist to reduce the number of IOLMaster units being returned to the
CZOS facility for refurbishment with missing components/peripherals. The return of IOLMaster
instruments to the CZOS facility for refurbishment, with missing components, has resulted in an
increased repair costs to the refurbishment department. Missing components and peripherals must
be purchased and included with the repaired units prior to completion. If the replacement parts are
not immediately available, the completion of the IOLMaster refurbishment will be delayed.
This bulletin also provides information that will lead to the reduction of shipping damage to
IOLMaster units that are returned to the CZOS facility. A checklist is provided that lists all of the
necessary packaging materials needed to safely ship an IOLMaster to the CZOS Refurbishment
Center.
Often times the missing components/peripherals can be found at the customer site. Request any
missing components/peripherals from the staff at the practice. Inform the staff that all the missing
components/peripherals were accounted for when the instrument was shipped to the practice.
Politely remind them that it is their responsibility to return all of the items that they received with
the unit, and that the practice can be billed for missing components or peripherals.
SOLUTION
This bulletin identifies the components that should be returned with the unit to the CZOS facility,
and the components required to properly ship the IOLMaster.
Ideally, all of the components and peripherals that were sent with the instrument should be returned
with an instrument. It is understandable that some of the documentation and consumables may
not be available for return. Other components or peripherals may be tattered or damaged and may
be unacceptable for use with a refurbished unit. If you have components or peripherals that are
tattered or damaged, be sure to send those along with the instrument. Let the refurbishment center
make the call on what is acceptable or not.

If some of the shipping supplies are not available, try to replace them with suitable substitutes. For
example, if the wheel chocks are not available, try making some out of Styrofoam. If the nylon
strap used to secure the transport frames is not found, try using tape to secure the frames
together.
Keep in mind that the customer is not responsible to have the required shipping items for return of
the IOLMaster, obtaining the shipping materials and proper packaging of the IOLMaster is the
responsibility of the service engineer, trainer or salesperson returning the unit.
Note – If the inner or outer shipping container, transport frame, or outer box foam liners are
missing, contact the parts department for replacements. Do not attempt to create substitutes for
these parts.

To help the service engineers obtain all of the components/ peripherals for the system, the
following checklist can be duplicated and used as a check sheet. Note that the bolded items are
the critical to return items. They may be ordered from CZOS parts department.
