INTRODUCTION

Bharathidasan University established in February 1982, and was named after the great
revolutionary Tamil Poet, (Bharathidasan) (1891-1964). The motto of the University
"We will create a brave new world" has been framed from Bharathidasan's poetic
words. The University endeavors to be true to such a vision by creating in the region a
brave new world of academic innovation for social change.

The University's main Campus was initially located in a sprawling area of over 1000
acres in Palkalaiperur. However, as years passed on, the South Campus at Palkalaiperur
with the available infrastructure was donated to the newly started Anna University of
Technology. Very recently, another portion of the land has been allotted to the Indian
Institute of Management (IIM), Tiruchirappalli. Also, the University has a downtown
campus at Khajamalai, which housed originally the Autonomous Post- Graduate Centre
of the University of Madras at Tiruchirappalli. In addition to the administrative complex,
which includes the Vice-Chancellor's Secretariat, Registrar's Office, Finance and
Examination offices, most of the academic departments and research laboratories are
located in the main Palkalaiperur Campus.Among the academic units in the Palkalaiperur
Campus are Schools of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Basic Medical
Sciences, Geosciences, Social Sciences, Marine Sciences and the Schools of Languages.
In addition, the Campus also has the Central Library, University Informatics Centre,
Hostels, Staff Quarters, Health Centre, Canteen and others. The downtown campus has
the Departments of Social Work, Computer Science, the Centre for Remote Sensing,
the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (Formerly UGC-Academic Staff
College) and others. Besides these, the Bharathidasan Institute of Management
popularly known as BIM (adjudged as one of the top business schools in the country) is
located within the BHEL premises, a public sector undertaking at Tiruverumbur.

DEPARTMENT OF LIFELONG LEARNING:
The Department of Lifelong Learning was established in the year 1986 with the grant-
in-aid of UGC. The liability of the department has been being taken over by the
government of Tamil Nadu from April 1997 onwards. It has been undertaking a
number of notable Programmers under its four dimensions of Teaching, Research,
Capability Building/ Training and Extension. The activities of the department are
being well recognized by the State and National level bodies. The department was
conferred Dr.
Malcolm. S.Adiseshia Award during the year 1995 for its yeomen service in the field of
Adult and Continuing Education and also awarded the Prestigious NLM-UNESCO
Award-2004 for its outstanding contributions in the field of Literacy and Continuing
Education.
MASTER OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
A two-year Master Degree Program on Human Resource Management is being run by
the Department of Lifelong Learning from the academic year 2009-2010. The main
object of the course is to fill up the gap of trained human resources at the industrial
and educational sectors and also provide career prospectus for the rural youth
especially girls at national and global level by means of molding the student of M.A
(HRM) through rich field exposure, in-plant training, preparation of different types of
reports and generating research aptitude besides sound theoretical background in the
relevant subjects in current affairs.

NEURO-ONE HOSPITAL

Neuro-one hospital is one of the leading hospitals in Tiruchirappalli. The best health care
professional provides comprehensive health care. It is located at a prime center with easy
approachability and proximity to chathiram bus stand, this hospital is built with blend of
tradition and modernity. It is spacious and the interior gives us mind so thing ambience
provide a memorable experience. It is affordable to all class of people.

At Neuro-one, they offer the recent and advanced techniques to treat disorders of the brain
and spinal cord, spine and peripheral nerves. Their center is an independent facility for
comprehensive brain spine and nerve care. THE NEURO ONE center of excellence in
neurosciences offers advanced Neurology, Neurosurgery, Spine surgery. Neuro oncology,
surgery endoscopic, Neuroradiology, neuropsychology.

FIELD EXPOSURE ACTIVITIES

Day-1:

On that day, we visited the various departments which are included in the hospitals and
we known the process of their departments. The departments and different areas are:

DAY 2
On that day, we twos are with HR and only one with Out Patient (OP) employees.
1) Role of marketing department:

The process of marketing in hospital which are included to market the hospital facilities to
public or other hospitals. They refer to suggest the doctors to the other patient in their
hospital. It is important role of in marketing department.

2) Memo:

It is abbreviated from the word “Memorandum”. It explains minimum two times warning
the employees who mistakes and mis-behaviors in their work. After two warnings company
will give memo to that employee. It is one type of suspension.

3) Safety and Precautions of employees:

In this hospital, they will provide safety measures related training and classes special
lectured by fire officers or safety related faculties. They will provide monthly once in that
hospital. Mostly the training is for nursing and house-keeping employees.

DAY-3:

1) ESI:

It is abbreviated from the word Employees State Insurance. It means like that insurance
formalities. And company will provide for certain employees based on their salary whose
earning some percentage of salary. It will not provide for all employees in the organization.
The benefits are included in:

• Medical benefits
• Sickness benefits
• Maternity benefits

• Disablement benefits

2) Performance Appraisal:
It means employee performance in their work. Employees work well and their superior will
approach their work of employee of the organization. It results also promote the employee
position. In this hospital, will give lot of gifts, promotions and bonus.

3) Team work:

It is defined as the group of working with their co-workers. It builds the growth of
organization. And also, easily to interacting with others.

DAY-4:

1) Work schedule:

It classifies the schedule of work. It is the main role of HR. It is based on the department
wise.

2) Job Description:

It describes about summarize the work of employees based on their nature. It is the type of
work performed and it should include important company details.

3) Leave and holiday provision:


To be eligible for the paid holidays an employees must hold appointment a regular
position works a regular schedule and must be 49% or more full-time equivalent.
4) On-boarding:
It is the process of training and orientation to co-ordinate with other departments. It
in which new hires are integrated into the organization. It includes the phases are:
• Pre-onboarding
• Welcoming new hires
• Role-specific training
• Transition to their new role easily

DAY-5:
1) Provide training to employees related to their works:

Training is provided to the existing employees or new employees by HR which lectured


by that related department members. In this hospital, provide both On-the job training and
Off-the job training. The training classes handle twice per week. That classes are in days
like Tuesday and Friday. They some sharing of power point presentation and lecture
through various method.

DAY-6:

On this day, we collected the feedback from employees whose are worked in

• Nursing
• Accounts department
• Marketing department
• House-keeping department
• Pharmacy
• Receptionist
• Out Patient (OP)
After the collected the feedback from employees and concluded the results with the help
graphical representations.

DAY-7:

In the department of Human Resource (HR), they conducted mock interview. This mock
interview helps to known about myself and how did ready for an interview. And, also it helps
how to answer the questions arises by the interviewer or panel members.

In that hospital have 75 employees in various departments.

We collected the feedback from selected employees in the department of Nursing,


Accounts, Marketing, Pharmacy, Receptionist and Out-Patient.

Sample research was conducted among 25 employees the result of the samples is described
in the following tables and charts.

CHAPTER 4

CONCLUSIONS

During field exposure at Neuro-one Hospital from 18th March 2024 to 26th M a r c h
2 0 2 4 , the learning and outcomes of that period are as follows

➢ Learned HR activities and their process


➢ Learned Opinion about hospital by the employees who are worked in that hospital

through the collection of feedback form


➢ Learned lot of doubts clear through by mock interview conducted by HR
➢ Learned found the dos and don’ts while interview
➢ Found the mistakes during interview

Then learned about ESI, memo, Job Rotation, Job Description, On-boarding, work of
Out-Patient employee and process of various departments in the hospital.

Then, how to recruiter the candidates for the job and after selection process how to trained
the selected candidates based on their work.

Last, learned time keeping, co-ordinate with co-workers and also how to interact with other
employees or people. Then, how to develop the growth of the hospital.

In M.A. HRM, the field exposure is very important component. It helps to develop the skills
and knowledge. And it also helps to develop communication skills with others. The training
of that field exposure plays an important role in providing the students with an opportunity
to exposure their ideas and gathered many information from HR.
