I. Application/Activity
a. Name at least three (3) of your habits that you think lead you to becoming a virtuous person. Why?
1. Practicing Empathy Short Explanation: This habit fosters kindness, compassion, and a genuine desire to
help others, which are all qualities associated with virtuous behavior.

2. Cultivating Gratitude Short Explanation: appreciating the good things in one's life, no matter how small.

3. Practicing Integrity Short Explanation: These habits contribute to personal growth and character
development, ultimately leading to a more virtuous and fulfilled life.

b. What person I ought to be?

1. Jenna is a loving mother of 6 who tries to make ends meet by offering her services for laundry, cleaning houses,
taking care of kids or old folks and just basically accepting any job she can. The husband on the other hand, is a
carpenter who recently had an accident. While recovering, he is selling all sorts of items. One day, Jenna found out
that she is pregnant again with twins. They cannot afford another mouth to feed, let alone two. Despite neighbors
telling her to have an abortion, she decided to continue with her pregnancy because for her, she cannot entertain the
idea of killing her unborn children. However, as soon as they were born, she gave them up for adoption to a childless
couple.
For virtue ethics, the determination of whether a person is good or bad, is dependent on the answer to the
question given above, What sort of person ought I to be? This question focuses on the character traits one is
supposed to have in order for that person to be considered as ethical. For virtue ethics, an ethical person is a
virtuous person, that is, one who has morally good traits of character.

a. Do you think Jenna is a morally good person? Justify your answer.

-Jenna's decision to continue with her pregnancy despite financial difficulties and societal pressure to have an
abortion demonstrates virtues such as compassion, selflessness, and a commitment to protecting life.

b. If you were in her situation, what you have done?

- If I were in Jenna's situation, it would be difficult to imagine the weight of her circumstances and the emotional
turmoil she must have experienced. My decision might differ in terms of whether to give the twins up for adoption.

c. Do you agree with Jenna?

- Whether or not one agrees with Jenna's decision is subjective and may depend on individual beliefs and values.
Some individuals may admire Jenna's unwavering commitment to protecting the lives of her unborn children and her
willingness to sacrifice her own comfort for their well-being.
