Direction: Answer the following questions:

1. What is NSRC in NSTP?

 It is an organization mandated by law. It was created by the virtue of RA 9163 or the


NSTP Act of 2001 in order to provide a trained, motivated, and organized manpower
reserve that can be tapped by the State for DRRM, civic welfare, literacy, national
emergency, environmental protection and other similar endeavors in the service of the
nation. It mandated all graduates of the non-ROTC component of the NSTP, the Civic
Welfare Training Service (CWTS), and the Literacy Training Service (LTS) shall belong
to the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC) while the ROTC graduates shall become
reservists of the AFP Reserve Force.

2. What are the duties and responsibilities of NSRC?

 NSRC have many duties and responsibilities, some of them are assisting in the disaster
preparedness, mitigation, response, and rehabilitation programs. Also, to assist in the
promotion of civic welfare activities, implementation of literacy programs, socio-
economic development and environmental protection. Aside from that, they are also
trained to respond in case of mobilization for national emergency and to perform other
similar endeavors as directed by higher DRRM authorities.

3. How does NSRC help students and the communities?

 NSRC is very helpful as it deepens the civic consciousness and defense preparedness
of every student. Also, it promotes and applies the NSTP's primary goal to serve the
people and the nation by espousing the spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility.
Hence, it helps students to graduate with a high level of socio-cultural, economic,
political and environmental consciousness, equipped with adept skills, enabling
competencies, right mindset and an attitude for the nation's welfare. NSRC helps the
communities by promoting the consciousness among youth and develop their physical,
moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being. It shall inculcate in the youth
patriotism, nationalism, and advance their involvement in public and civic affairs.
