Mobile phones are electronic media communication tools that have the same benefits as
conventional telephones but are easy to carry anywhere, easy to use and contain very
sophisticated features for communicating. Mobile phones are not only used for making calls,
mobile phones also have other benefits such as sending and receiving short messages.
Currently, cell phones have become a lifestyle for people, including Indonesia. Starting
from the lower classes and the rich, cellphones have become an item that is needed at all
times
The current problem is that cellphones also have a negative impact on a person’s
psychological development and health, and also cause more and more crimes to occur.

DISCUSSION
2.1 Understanding Mobile Phones
A mobile phone (cellphone) is an electronic telecommunications device that has same
basic capabilities as a conventional fixed line telephone, but can be carried anywhere and
does not need to be connected to a telephone network. A mobile phone/cellphone is a two-
way communication device that allows two people or more to chat without being limited by
distance.1
The first telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. This tool was a
practical means of communication so it developed rapidly.2 Meanwhile the inventor of the
mobile phone was Martin Cooper, who worked at Motorola. Cooper had the idea of making a
communication device that was small and easy to carry when traveling.3
Mobile phones have many different definitions from one another. Mobile phones refer
to small instrumental devices that have specific practical purposes and functions that are
useful
apart from that, cellphones are a medium (tool) that is used as a modern
communication tool. According to Luci Tri Ediana and Anita Herawati, cellphones make
human communication activities easier, now communication activities are becoming more
advanced with the emergence of cellphones.4
2.2 The Impact Of Use Of Hand phones For People
Everything definitely has two sides, namely positive and negative, just like
cellphones, gadgets also have positive and negative impacts on their users.

2.1.1 Postive Impact Of Using A Mobile Phone

There are several positive things about using a cell phone, namely :
 First, develop children's abilities and increase knowledge and information. Mobile
phones have an impact on children's ease in seeking knowledge easily and accessing
information quickly through applications on mobile phones without having to force
them.

 Second, train children's creativity, in this case technological advances create a variety of
knowledge that can increase children's creativity and innovation so that they are
encouraged to develop further.5
 Third, adapt to the times. One of the positive impacts will be helping the development of
a child's adaptive functions. This means a person's ability to adapt to the surrounding
environment and developments over time.6
 fourth, it cannot be denied that communication is now greatly facilitated by the presence
of smartphones. This also applies in the world of education, where communication
between teachers - students - parents can run more easily and can be done en masse
through groups available in communication applications, such as WhatsApp, Line,
Video call and others. With that, communicating becomes easier without having to meet
face to face. The process of sharing information or holding video conferences to do
assignments can also be done anywhere and at any time with the help of a smartphone,
and this can be very helpful in the learning process.
2.1.2 Negative Impacts Of Using A Cell Phone
Apart from having a positive impact, there are also negative impacts that influence
people's social behavior, namely as follows. The negative impacts of cellphones on social
relations are:
 Firstly, a decrease in children's learning concentration. When the learning process is
taking place or learning, children become unfocused and only remember gadgets
which is caused by game addiction.
 Second Health problems. Radiation exposure is a health problem caused by excessive
use of cellphones. If a child is very addicted to it, it is difficult to get away from
cellphones, as a result radiation can damage eye health
 third: Influence human behavior. The development of mobile phones has now reached
the point where an internet network is available that can be accessed by anyone,
making site creators try to create sites that can attract attention, namely by displaying
cruelty and sadism, so that this influences the behavior patterns and character of
children.
 Fourth, Decreased work performance
 Five, Rampant spread of hoax news
 Six, Mental disorders

CHAPTER III
CONCLUSION

3.1 Conclusion.

Based on the results of the analysis in the figure above regarding the impact of
technology use, especially in the use of cellphones, has a huge impact. First, cellphones do
have a positive impact on anyone, whether by teaching social skills, strengthening
relationships or just for fun. However, with continued use, it can also have a negative impact
especially on the mental health and well-being of the users. There are several negative
impacts of using social media uncontrollably, namely, spreading false rumors, opening
pornographic sites and many others.

What makes this condition worse is when cellphone users consider the negative things
that happen on social media as commonplace and the risk of using cellphones. If this
continues to be justified, it can trigger even more serious things. Efforts to prevent the
negative impact of using mobile phones for the community, especially teenagers, begin with
educating teenagers about the dangers that occur in using mobile phones by conducting
socialization activities. One of the most effective ways is to ensure that the use of mobile
phones has a positive impact on life.

It can be concluded that excessive use of technology can have a negative impact on
mental health and life motivation for everyone in the era of globalization. Some of the
negative impacts that can occur include the use of cellphones that result in a lack of social
interaction, lack of physical activity, sleep disorders and stress. These negative impacts will
affect one's mental health such as decreased concentration levels, increased anxiety and
depression, and decreased levels of happiness. In addition, excessive use of technology can
also reduce motivation in terms of learning for students, because students tend to be more
interested in things that are technological than learning activities.

Therefore, it is important for parents and teachers to supervise and limit the use of
mobile phones to students and provide alternative activities that can improve mental health
and learning motivation for each student. These alternatives include social interaction with
friends, physical activities such as exercising and enriching knowledge through reading books
or participating in extracurricular activities that suit students' interests. Behind this
description of cellphone use, it can be concluded that cellphone use does not always have a
positive impact on mental health for everyone, especially for students. Therefore, there needs
to be proper supervision and restrictions on the use of gadgets by students so as not to have a
negative impact on one's mental health.

3.2 Suggestion

The results of this image research are seen to be able to add insight into knowledge
related to changes in attitudes and social environment behavior by using cellphones and the
elements that influence them. Especially those interested in getting to know more about
changes in attitudes in adolescents related to cell phone use, so that it will be more objective
and varied in carrying out the image research. More awareness of the bad side of excessive
cell phone use, for the wider community and especially for teenagers who still have to
prioritize learning and social interaction directly or face-to-face, which means that not all
activities can be carried out through cell phones. In addition, it is hoped that parents will pay
more attention and supervise their sons and daughters in using cell phones so that cell phones
do not become addictive and do not interfere with the process of daily activities for the wider
community and learning for the teenagers themselves. For future researchers, they should
expand the research so that more complete news is obtained about the elements that have a
good influence on teenage cell phone users. In the picture that has been provided, through the
conclusion, we the group got some important points that can be used as suggestions related to
the use of cellphones in supporting this level of life activity.
