23. A solid is in the shape of a cone standing on a hemisphere with both their radii being equal to 1 cm and
the height of the cone is equal to its radius. Find the volume of the solid.

24. A chord of a circle of radius 10 cm subtends a right angle at the centre. Find the area of the minor
segment.

25. Evaluate: 2 tan2 45° + cos2 30° – sin2 60°

26. Find the zeroes of 3x2 – x – 4 quadratic polynomials and verify the relationship between the zeroes and the
coefficients.

27. For what value of k, the following pair of linear equations has infinite number of solutions:
2 x + 3 y = 7 and (k − 1) x + (k + 2) y = 3k
OR

If we add 1 to the numerator and subtract 1 from the denominator, a fraction reduces to 1. It becomes if

we only add 1 to the denominator. What is the fraction?

28. A statue, 1.6 m tall, stands on the top of a pedestal. From a point on the ground, the angle of elevation of
the top of the statue is 60° and from the same point the angle of elevation of the top of the pedestal is 45°.
Find the height of the pedestal.

29. In what ratio does the point (– 4, 6) divide the line segment joining the points A(– 6, 10) and B(3, – 8)?

30. In Figure, XY and X′Y′ are two parallel tangents to a circle with centre O and another tangent AB with
point of contact C intersecting XY at A and X′Y′ at B. Prove that ∠ AOB = 90°.

31. Prove that : (sin A + cosec A) 2 + (cos A + sec A) 2 = 7 + tan 2 A + cot 2 A

33. In a class test, the sum of Shefali’s marks in Mathematics and English is 30. Had she got 2 marks more in
Mathematics and 3 marks less in English, the product of their marks would have been 210. Find her marks
in the two subjects.

34. Find the ratio in which the line segment joining A(1, – 5) and B(– 4, 5) is divided by the x-axis. Also find
the coordinates of the point of division.

35. Consider the following distribution of daily wages of 50 workers of a factory.

Find the mean daily wages of the workers of the factory.

36. In a school examination hall, the teacher makes students sit in such a way that no students can cheat from
other student. So, the teacher decides to mark the numbers on each chair from 1,2,3,….if there are 26
students and each student is seated at alternate position in examination hall such that the sequence formed
1,3,5.

(i) Find the common difference between two seats.


(ii) What type of sequence is formed, to follow the seating arrangement of students in the examination
hall?
(iii) Find the seat number of the last student in the examination hall.

Find the seat number of 10th vacant seat in the examination hall.

37. A coach is discussing the strategy of the game with his players. The position of playersis marked with ‘x’
in the figure.

(i) If O is taken as the origin, find the point whose abscissa is zero.
(ii) Find the distance between the player C and B.
(iii) Find the position of the player who is 6 units from x-axis and 2 units to the right of y-axis.

If (x,y) are the coordinates of the mid-point of the line segment joining A and H, then find the value of x
and y.

38. The satellite image of Himalaya Mountain is shown below.In this image there are many signal towers are
standing.The angle of elevation of the top of a hill from the foot of a tower is 60◦ and the angle of elevation
of the top of the tower with height 100 m from the foot of the hill is 30◦.

(i) Find the horizontal distance between hill and tower.


(ii) Find the height of the hill.
(iii) Find the distance from foot of the tower to the top of the hill.
OR
Find the distance from the foot of the hill to the top of the tower.
