In sports fields and competition facilities surface water must be drained quickly and efficiently. Drainage channels used in these locations must comply with the DIN standards 18035 and 19580 and at the same time comply with the requirements of the IAAF. Sports facilities should be designed and constructed so that the risk of injury to athletes is minimised. Installation advices
In accordance with DIN 19580 Drainage channels for rain water for installation in traffic areas the installation instructions of the manufacturer are to be observed unconditionally. An improperly executed installation can lead to constructional damage. Generally applicable installation suggestions are available for all products within the artec Sports range. These installation suggestions are part of any supply, but may also be requested in advance.

FASERFIX Super channels are particularly suitable for drainage of stands and external facilities! FASERFIX Super channels are available in nominal widths of 100, 150, 200, 300, 400 and 500 mm. Channels with in-built gradient are also available. There are different covers in the loading classes A 15 to F 900 in accordance with DIN 19580. The FASERFIX Super 100 KS channels offers special configuration options. A wide range of different gratings is available including: Ductile iron gratings, GUGI iron gratings, Slotted steel gratings, Double slotted gratings, Perforated gratings, longitudional and transverse gratings

or Solid covers. The gratings are secured on the channels by the SIDE-LOCK rapid connection, making them suitable for traffic conditions.

Material
RECYFIX Sport channels and trash boxes are made of 100 % recycled plastic. Their most redeeming feature is that they are lightweight and easy to install. The material they are made of is highly durable, UV stabilised, has a neutral impact on the environment and is impervious. RECYFIX Sport slotted channels are supplied with slotted covers made of KTL-coated steel. The inlet slots of RECYFIX Super Sport slotted channels consist of EPDM inserts that are closed on delivery. Once the sport coating has been applied the inserts can be opened without any difficulty. Also available as an inexpensive alternative are the RECYFIX Standard Sport slotted channels. With this variation, the inlet slot consists of a universal U profile.

FASERFIX-Sports plastic covers

Sports plastic covers consist of UV resistant white synthetic resin and are resistant to salts of condensation, do not absorb water and are largely fractureproof. Due to their smooth surface they do not collect dirt. The Sport plastic covers are lightweight. They are quick and easy to assemble. Sport plastic covers lock themselves into place in the base section of the RECYFIX Sport channel. The slotted channels are locked by means of stainless steel clips. RECYFIX Sports plastic blank covers are available for slotted channels in crossing areas.

RECYFIX-Sports trashboxes
The RECYFIX trash boxes match the respective channels and serve as a collecting point for solid material. They have a plastic bucket and provide the option for channels to be connected on both ends. Changing from a box channel to a slotted channel is easy using a trash box.

Paris model FASERFIX Sports channels

The Paris model FASERFIX Sports channels have the dual function of providing drainage of the playing field as well as securing the artificial turf independently of the grating. The grating can be removed for cleaning while the artificail turf remains fully secured. The Paris system uses FASERFIX Super 100 NC channels made from glass fibre reinforced concrete. The upper edges of the channels and the surface supporting the grating are of galvanised steel. Paris model FASERFIX Sports channels are supplied complete with galvanised slotted gratings and clamping strips. When securing the grating into the channel, the two spring fixings are clipped under the edges of the clamping strips. This vandal proof fixing secures the grating without screws. A whole range of thicknesses of artificial turf may be fixed with the clamping strips. Paris model Sports Corner units with galvanised slotted gratings are available for playing field corners.

Paris model FASERFIX Sports kerbs

If drainage is not required, the artificial turf may be secured with Paris model FASERFIX Sports kerbing. Here the artificial turf is fixed as described above by a clamping strip. Paris model channels and kerb are supplied with the required quantity of grippers, countersunk screws to screw the grippers, and countersunk screws to fix the clamping strip.

FASERFIX Sports soft kerbs
FASERFIX Sports soft kerbs which have rubber cushioned cappings are used for edging sand pits, sand traps and other sports areas. They may also be used to provide durable enclosures for individual areas of the sports field/pitch. The rubber cushioned capping minimises the risk of injury to athletes. FASERFIX Sports soft kerbs are manufactured from glass fibre reinforced concrete with a 60mm width and 30mm height white or black rubber cushion made of ethylene propylene unvulcanised rubber (EPDM). This material is temperature resistant from - 30 C to + 100 C and is extremely elastic. The air cushion reduces the risk of injury to sporting participants. FASERFIX Sports soft kerbs are available in heights of 200 to 400 mm, and in 1000 mm or 500 mm lengths. Corner pieces in various dimensions enable right angle joints to be made. FASERFIX soft kerbs are available for shot-putting facilities. The design and material is similar to the Sports soft kerbs for sand pits and traps. The rubber cushioned capping is 100 mm wide and 50 mm high. FASERFIX Sports soft kerb for shot putting facilities is available in black colour, in 1000 mm lengths and heights from 150 mm to 250 mm.

RECYFIX Sports sand traps

RECYFIX Sports sand traps prevent athletes from spreading sand onto the adjoining running track when leaving sand pits. This is especially important when the running track is coated with plastic. Sand on such coated running tracks can lead to damage to the surface. The base section of the Sport sand catchment channels is made of polypropylene. The base section is 500 mm wide and either 560 or 1000 mm long. The base section includes a preformed DN 100 connecting interface. An h-section metal profile is installed on one side of the Sports sand trap. This profile gives a neat joint to the adjacent running track coatings. The sand traps are supplied complete with an expanded metal grating and rigidly mounted rubber matting. The sand falls through the large honeycomb openings in the rubber matting into the base section of the sand trap. Galvanised end caps are available as accessories. We recommend enclosing sand pits with FASERFIX Sports soft kerbs. Sand traps should then adjoin the soft kerbs, being positioned on both sides and at the end of the sand pit (see illustration). A double width of RECYFIX Sports sand traps may also be installed to form a 1 metre wide protective zone around the sand pit. In this design, only the outer row of sand traps adjoining the running track should have the hsection metal upstand.

FASERFIX Sports water jump kit
The FASERFIX Sports water jump kit comprises of reinforced concrete sections. As a result a water jump can be installed quickly, easily and economically, meeting the IAAF requirements for water jumps for steeplechases. The German Copyright protected FASERFIX Sports water jump kit is applicable to both level installation and for installation with a single-sided raised side wall. The FASERFIX Sports water jump kit is supplied in 3 sections. Its dimensions conform to DIN 18035, part 8. The upper edges of the 3 individual parts are provided with white soft profiles of ethylene propylene unvulcanised rubber (EDPM). An integral outlet to DN 70 of plastic enables the water jump to be drained. The water jump base is concreted by the installing contractor. The water jump kit is designed with an adjustable galvanised steel rail on both of the sidewall sections to enable the inclination of the water jump base to be simply and accurately fixed. A steel connection reinforcement let into the rear section of the water jump serves to join the water jump kit to the water jump base. In both side walls, metal pegs are located, for interlocking into corresponding recesses in the rear section of the water jump, this enables the individual sections to be correctly located on installation. Each of the three sections is provided with 2 transport slings to allow lifting and positioning on site.

FASERFIX Sports dish channels

FASERFIX Sports dish channels are laid as open channels between turf and running track. They are designed so that one of the two outer edges forms the 5 cm wide running track lane marker lines. The FASERFIX Sports dish channels are easy to clean and provide an alternative to Sports channels with separate covers. FASERFIX dish channels are made of glass fibre reinforced concrete, which is resistant to frost and condensation salts. FASERFIX Sports channels are joined together by a tongue and groove system. Two sleeves are located on the under side of each channel. The steel pins supplied with the channels can be inserted into these sleeves by the contractor. This provides additional vertical anchorage.

FASERFIX Sports distribution pits type E accommodate electrical and communications cables. Sports distribution pit type W accommodate fittings, measuring instruments and water conduits of sports facilities. FASERFIX Sports distribution pits are made of glass fibre reinforced concrete. The upper edges have a wrap-round corrosion-proof steel angle housing. The FASERFIX Sports distribution pit type E comprises 2 sections with DN70 and DN100 connection possibilities on all sides. The cover is navigable and consists of galvanised steel plate. It can be filled up with plastic layers by the contractor. The cover is equipped with carryinghandle, fittings holder and cable protection. An onlay frame with height adjustment is available to special order. The FASERFIX Sports distribution pit type W is supplied in one unit with DN70 and DN100 outlet connection possibilities. The navigable cover consists of galvanised steel plate. It can be filled up with plastic layers by the contractor. This cover is also equipped with a carrying handle.
