IELTS Speaking Sample Answers

(using the given words)
Part 1
1. What is your favorite fruit?
The fruit I love more than any other is blueberries, not only do they have a unique sweet and sour
flavor that’s to die for, but they also contain a lot of antioxidants that help to prevent cancer. I eat
them at least four times a week with yogurt and oatmeal in the morning. In fact, I just had a bowl
before this exam.
2. How often do you eat fruits? (…as an apple a day keeps the doctor away.)
Oh, I eat fruits all the time, I would say that I eat at least two servings of fruit each day as this
keeps me fit and energized. As I had just said, I already ate a portion this morning, and I’m
planning to have a pineapple fruit salad for lunch.
3. How about vegetables?
Just as with fruits, I consume a lot of veggies, maybe not as much as fruits, since I’m a bit a
sweet tooth, but I certainly get at least one serving a day into my system. This evening, I’m
planning to have roasted veggies with my steak.
4. Where do you buy the most delicious fruits and vegetables?
I most often buy the best organic produce from a farmers market about half a kilometer from my
home, called Lehel Market, not only do they have a great selection which is grown at local farms
but they also have very good prices.
Part 2
Describe your favourite fruit.
You should say:
 What it is
 Where it is grown
 How often you can eat it
 Explain why this is your favourite fruit.
I just love to eat various kinds of fruits during different seasons because of their diverse
but necessary nutritional values. However, if there was one particular fruit, which I would just
love to eat for the rest of my life every day, then it would be “peaches”.

Yes, it is absolutely obvious by now that “peaches” by far is my favourite fruit, which
stimulates my taste bud unlike any other fruits in this world. And, as I have already mentioned
that I would never get tired of eating this fruit except, of course, this soft and juicy fruit, with a
lot of flesh, can be expensive, depending on where you live. However, where I live, this
beautiful and tempting fruit, with pinky-orange skin, is rather expensive because, unfortunately,
my country doesn’t grow them, and as such, we have to import them from other countries for
our consumption. If this fruit would have been a bit more affordable for me, I wouldn’t mind
eating them one every single day.

Anyway, this soft, round, slightly furry fruit, with sweet yellow flesh and pinky-
orange skin, usually grow best in warm countries. But, if you want to be more specific about
which countries grow this wonderful and healthy fruit, the list would include China (by far the
world’s leading producer), followed by Spain, Greece, Italy and the United States. But, as far as
the environment is concerned, the peace tree grows best in lands that receive full sun for at least
6 hours a day and has good airflow. Besides, a site with a well-drainage system and moderately
fertile soil is also very suitable for growing peaches.

Anyway, this is my favourite fruit because of the sweet taste of the juice, the firm
tenderness of the flesh and the soft textured feel of the skin of this “Prunus persica” (meaning
“Persian plum”, as it is closely related to the “plum”) makes it the perfect fruit of all seasons and
for everybody to enjoy. I like peaches also because they are high in fibre, vitamins, and
minerals, and they contain beneficial plant compounds like antioxidants.
PART 3
1. Describe what you think is a healthy diet.
Developing a healthy eating habit isn’t as confusing or as restrictive as many people imagine.
Personally, a healthy diet is the one which combines enough nutrients for one’s life. Therefore,
consuming a rich variety of food is very important because eating a wide assortment of foods
helps ensure that you get all of the nutrients, especially the disease-fighting potential that foods
offer.
2. What fruit and vegetables do you eat?
The pineapple is a tropical fruit known for its distinctive appearance and sweet flavor.
Encased in a rough, spiky golden-brown skin, the pineapple's vibrant yellow flesh is juicy and
succulent. Its taste is a delightful balance of sweetness and tanginess, making it a favorite
among fruit lovers.

When you slice open a pineapple, you'll find a fibrous core at the center that is best removed
before consumption. The remaining fruit can be enjoyed fresh or used in a variety of culinary
creations. Its versatility allows it to be featured in both savory and sweet dishes.

3. Does your country have many fruit and vegetables from other countries?
Yes, my country has a lot of fruit and vegetables from other countries. We have food from all
over the world in our supermarkets.
I'm from the UK and we don't grow bananas or oranges there because it's too cold, but we can
buy them easily. We also eat a lot of pasta and rice, but these aren't British foods.
We import a lot of meat, too. We get lamb from New Zealand and beef from Argentina and
Australia. But we also have our own traditional dishes. For example, we eat roast beef and
Yorkshire pudding on Sundays. And we often have fish and chips for dinner.
