COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course introduces the concept of project management in the context of property development. It
covers topics on project management organisation, principles of project management, role of project
manager in property development and the phases of construction in property development.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, students are expected to be
able to:-
1) Explain the phases of project development in
construction industry
2) Comprehend the various management aspects in the
process of project life cycle: Initiation, Planning,
Executing, Controlling and Closing
3) Discuss the issues related to project management

INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
Observe any published articles related to the topics for project management syllabus to start your
keyword search in the library’s online database. Search for current articles (from the year 2018
onwards). Choose one related academic article from the refereed journals, conferences, dissertation,
reports & proceedings. Register the title of your article to your class rep (latest by the third week of the
semester) to make sure everyone has a different article each. First come first served basis. Whoever
has the same article after someone has registered must find a new one.

Prepare a critical review on the article in the form of presentation slides (maximum of 15 slides only)
THAT should include the following details:
◦ Slide #1 - Must contain student’s name, photo, matrix number, title of the article being reviewed.
◦ Slide #2 - Introduction of the topic and author(s) who wrote the published article.
◦ Few slides - Summary of the article content and issues being discussed.
◦ Few slides - Impact of the issues / discussions on the project management practice.
◦ Second last slide - your own opinion regarding the topic of discussion.
