controversial matters. I do not think this booked should have banned in this case. It’s an adult book
in which it’s aimed at adult. If an adult wants to read the book and they have no problem with what
the book contains then it should be their decision whether to read it or not. An adult should be able
to make their own decisions on whether they want to read that type of material. Some people like to
read controversial material for example 50 shades of Grey is a very popular book which has been a
best seller in the UK. This book is a very controversial book and explores sex and S&M. People may
see this as having an explicit nature. So why has Naked Lunch been banned and 50 shades hasn’t? In
this circumstanced I think it is wrong that books are banned. It shouldn’t have been published in the
first place and the publishers should have looked into the material of what the book had contained. If
they ban one book containing this sort of controversial matters than why don’t they ban all books
containing it? Adults are in charge of themselves and it they want to explore the explicit content that
the books have it should be their choice into what they read. Another circumstance where I don’t
agree that censorship can be used is within the education. Within this scenario religious schools will
not allow the children to know the story of the big bang and how the earth started scientifically.
They will only teach the bible way. I think concerning the education this wrong because children
should be taught both ways and be lead to make their own decision on what they believe in. Using
censorship to hide theories from children in wrong in this aspect and it should not be done. The

The paper "censorship" mostly discusses the results of censorship in contemporary society.... nbsp;…
censorship is an out of date act in this era of freedom of information and expression as it impedes
society since information is power.... In addition, it derails economic growth in countries it is
practiced since it discourages the growth and development of businesses in the informal sector such
as those involving cinemas and films due to the worst censorship experiences.... I said I couldnt
understand why they [John Birch Society, an extremist right-winged group] were being given such
protection. But the network [CBS, where Ed Sullivan Show is aired] turned us down. They told us
they understood and sympathized . but insisted they had previously handled the Birch Society on
network news programmes, and couldnt take the subject into entertainment. (qtd. in Inglis 561)
Another good example from same show is how producers’ censorship forced The Rolling Stones to
drop “Night” from “Let’s Spend The Night Together,” making song’s tag line sounds odd given
song’s overall meaning. Layout for YES • Topic Sentence • Three Ideas • Each idea has a supporting

for
and
against censorship. Some people argue that censorship is necessary to protect society from harmful or
offensive material, such as pornography, hate speech, or propaganda. They believe that censoring
such material can help to prevent violence, protect children from inappropriate content, and maintain
social order. The Practicality of putting your thoughts on the page. Essay Introduction - Define
censorship, make a clear connection between it and society (include the word significant), briefly
indicate how your type of media is included 6. not be on the shelves of book stores and libraries as
children can read this kind of books easily and the content offends a lot of people. In my opinion
they
should not censorship books, as it’s an adult choice whether they want to read that material or not. If
a
person is easily offend by explicit material then they shouldn’t read that particular book. As I said
previously in the essay an adult can make their own choice on what they want to read. When the
book is in bookstores and libraries people are aware to children can easily read the book and check it
out/buy them due to an incident in America where a 14-year-old boy checked out ‘Neonomicon’ (an
adult graphic novel.) library book which was very inappropriate for his age. In my opinion in this case
the
book should not have been in reach for a child to get hold off. Overall censorship on books should
not
be
because it should be the reader’s decision to read the book or not. Television again should not be
censorship
due to watershed. Watershed allows programs with violence and inappropriate content to be shown
after a certain time. The television should not have censorship on after this time. The people usually
watching the TV are adults or children with adults, which can make their own choice whether they
want to watch this or allow their children to watch the content. People may disagree with me and
say that all TV programs should have censorship on because people can be affected and offended by
the
content, which then can influence bad behavior. To some extent I do agree with this as TV can really
influence how people act. Which cannot always be a positive thing. For example I am influenced
when I watch TV programs like skins I want to wear what they wear and do things what they do.
But then again adult should understand that they shouldn’t copy/ be influenced by TV. Censorship
should then only be on TV when an inappropriate TV program is broadcasted before watershed. The
inappropriate parts should be cut out so children and younger people are not exposed to this for
example the Big bang theory when 20% discount.
6 Pages (1500 words) Research Paper Subjects Overall, the debate over censorship is complex and
multifaceted, and there are valid arguments on both sides. While censorship may be necessary in
some cases to protect society from harm, it is important to balance this with the need to protect
freedom of speech and the exchange of ideas. Be careful, this sample is accessible to everyone. If

Generally,

In

1.
‘Is
censorship
a
good
or
bad
idea?’
I
think
that
censorship
is
a
good
idea
in
moderation.
It
is
good
in
the
way
it
helps
protect
children
from
exposure
to
graphic
content
which
could
disturb
them,
such
as
violence,
sexual
content,
drug
use,
discrimination
etc.
it
also
helps
to
protect
an
individual’s
privacy,
helps
avoid
plagiarism
and
helps
preserve
the
secrets
of
a
nation.
On
the
other
hand
there
are
many
arguments
against
censorship
such
as;
it
may
prevent
people
to
freely
speak
and
express
their
views,
dictators
can
use
censorship
to
promote
a
flattering
image
of
themselves
by
removing
any
information
that
opposes
them,
it
works
against
creativity.
Censorship
in
some
forms
of
media
may
make
the
piece
of
media
less
entertaining
or
completely
void.
I
believe
that
censorship
is
a
good
idea
but
I
think
that
nowadays
in
some
aspects,
it
is
taken
too
far,
for
example;
I
believe
that
there
should
not
be
an
18+
rating,
as
I
believe
that
by
the
age
of
16
you
are
capable
of
making
your
own
decisions
and
are
old
enough
to
view
all
legal
content
(or
make
the
decision
whether
to
or
not.
Most
things
are
18+
due
to
a
sexual
nature,
but
I
think
this
is
obscene
as
you
are
legally
allowed
to
have
sex
when
you
are
16,
but
you
cannot
view
things
of
a
sexual
nature
until
you
are
18?
To
me
this
makes
no
sense
at
all.
I
think
there
are
some
things
that
should
be
censored
for
younger
people,
such
as
violence,
discrimination&
sex.
But
I
don’t
think
that
these
should
be
censored
for
an
older
audience.
Things
such
as
movies
and
TV
shows
should
be
censored
in
accordance
with
what
I
have
stated
above
about
young
people,
but
I
do
not
believe
things
such
as
music
should
be
censored,
as
it
is
a
form
of
expression
and
shouldn’t
be
taken
offensively.
I
think
that
the
content
of
libraries
should
not
be
regulated,
as
a
library
should
have
as
much
information
as
possible,
as
this
is
the
purpose
of
a
library.
It
is
up
to
the
consumer
whether
or
not
to
read
something,
and
if
they
are
offended
or
disturbed
by
something
then
they
should
not
read
it.
If
a
library
were
to
restrict
information
for
the
benefit
of
those
who
may
find
it
offensive
then
it
is
not
fair
on
those
who
may
not.
Why
should
they
restrict
information
at
the
cost
of
people
who
may
have
wanted/
needed
that
information,
when
the
people
who
might
find
it
offensive
could
very
easily
just
not
read
or
look
at
it?
On
the
other
hand,
others
argue
that
censorship
is
a
form
of
control
that
is
used
to
suppress
dissenting
voices
and
ideas.
They
believe
that
censorship
is
often
used
to
protect
the
interests
of
those
in
power,
and
that
it
can
be
used
to
stifle
free
expression
and
suppress
alternative
viewpoints.

In
my
opinion
I
believe
that
censorship
is
a
good
thing
but
it
depends
on
the
length
that
is
taken
and
how
extreme
censorship
goes.
Censorship
is
a
good
thing
especially
for
protecting
children.
In
our
society
we
are
in
a
digital
world
and
children
from
a
very
young
age
are
using
the
internet,
because
of
this
children
are
being
exposed
to
material
that
they
can
access
easily
that
is
inappropriate
for
their
age
for
example
porn,
gambling,
violence.
Children
are
growing
up
being
show
this
from
a
young
age
which
can
be
damaging
to
them
growing
up
mentally.
Censorship
in
this
area
is
good
as
it
protect
children
from
seeing
this
content
on
the
Internet
and
allows
them
to
go
on
the
Internet
and
be
able
to
search
and
use
it
in
a
safe
manor.
Also
censorship
protects
children
from
watching
a
film,
which
is
not
appropriate
for
their
age.
Censorship
may
limit,
block
the
inappropriate
content
from
films
and
put
a
age
limit
on
the
film
so
children
are
not
exposed
to
content
which
is
not
appropriate
for
them
to
watch.
In
this
circumstance
censorship
is
a
good
aspect
as
its
protecting
children
from
content,
which
they
don’t
need
to
see
and
know
about
at
such
a
young
age.
Media
1.
Censorship
is
all
about
deciding
on
what
people
can
see
and
deciding
on
what
people
can
view
within
the
media.
Censorship
is
the
suppression
of
speech
or
other
public
communication,
which
may
be
considered
objectionable,
harmful,
sensitive
or
inconvenient
as
determined
by
the
government,
media
outlet
or
controlling
body.
It
clocks
out
content
which
mainly
is
harmful
to
people
and
it
aims
to
protect
children
and
vulnerable
people
by
block
and
removing
content
from
media
to
limit
and
restrict
what
they
can
see.
The
government
can
retain
people
from
seeing
content
in
the
media
by
removing
it
and
only
letting
the
public
see
what
the
government
want
them
to
see.
Censorship
can
happen
on
a
massive
level
like
that
or
on
a
more
local
level
where
religious
school
remove
the
big
bang
from
the
school
curriculum
so
the
children
don’t
have
different
beliefs
on
how
the
world
started.
Censorship
has
lots
of
different
areas
from
black
inappropriate
content
to
removing
content
so
people
only
know
one
way
or
limits
their
opinions
on
something.
Censorship
can
be
editing
parts
from
television/
TV
show
out,
prevention
of
advertising,
promote/
restrict
political/
religious
views,
prevent
slender
and
libel.
Restrict

people.

I

Censorship
Censorship
is
an
out
of
act
in
this
era
of
freedom,
information
and
expression
as
it
impedes
on
the
society
and
personal
development
since
information
is
power.
In
addition
to
the
idea
being
awkward,
it
derails
economic
growth
in
countries
where
it
is
practiced
since
it
discourages
growth
and
development
of
businesses
in
the
information
sector
such
as
those
involving
cinemas
and
films
due
to
the
worst
censorship
experiences.
Therefore,
censorship
is
not
justified
because
the
manner
in
which
it
is
has
become
ridiculous
since
as
opposed
to
the
main
objective
of
combating
illegal
activities
it
mainly
encourages
more
undertakings
of
these
activities.
Furthermore,
due
to
censorship
many
people
have
become
more
frustrated
than
ever
before
as
the
information
to
which
they
have
access
to,
which
is
so
regulated
that
it
is
rendered
inappropriate
in
making
well-
informed
decisions.
Censorship
discourages
economic
growth
by
hindering
business
development;
this
has
a
vast
negative
impact.
This
is
evident
when
considering
the
number
of
the
movies
that
are
being
banned
or
scrapped
off
due
to
the
sole
decision
of
an
individual
that
the
contents
of
the
movies
are
said
to
be
unfit
for
public
viewing.
This
is
not
in
order
in
spite
of
the
fact
that
individuals
may
at
times
be
dismissive
of
it
terming
it
as
protection
(Reichman
66).
The
role
of
film
classification
officers
is
thus
put
into
question
as
it
is
unclear
why
a
committee
is
left
to
determine
what
films
are
watchable
and
which
are
not
despite
the
clear
fact
that
it
is
the
regulators
who
place
the
age
restrictions
quite
higher
than
they
should
actually,
creating
a
negative
impact
on
the
business
personalities.
Information
is
power
and
a
population
that
is
empowered
is
better
off
than
that
which
is
denied
information.
This
impact
was
seen
in
Ireland
for
example
in
the
year
2000
on
the
film
called,
‘The
cider
house
rules,’
a
movie
which
was
given
an
over
18
certificate
proclaiming
that
the
information
that
it
presented
on
abortion
and
incest
was
wrong.
In
issuing
such
restrictions,
they
argue
that
any
individual
who
wants
to
have
access
to
such
a
film
must
first
possess
an
idea
of
the
film
contents
and
the
message
passed
(Caso
172).
This
may
be
correct
but
the
younger
population
should
access
the
message
communicated
by
the
film
especially
with
the
onset
of
technological
growth
coupled
with
the
fact
that
technology
is
and
will
continue
to
be
a
major
pillar
of
economic
growth.
Therefore,
many
businesses
are
adversely
affected
when
restrictions
in
terms
of
laws
and
regulations
are
put
in
place
in
such
an
environment
(Lederer
and
Richard
312).
In
addition,
censorship
denies
individuals
their
freedom
of
expression
and
access
to
information,
since
it
is
beneficial
for
one
to
be
able
to
make
well-
informed
decisions,
but
it
is
discouraging
when
some
sectors
within
the
society
influence,
and
place
restrictions
on
individuals
to
shape
the
values
of
the
society
members
in
terms
of
what
they
should
do
or
not
do.
It
is
only
possible
to
make
clear
and
well-
informed
decisions
when
the
individuals
have
all
the
necessary
information
to
make
such
decisions.
This
is
what
censorship
denies
the
population,
the
chance
to
make
their
own
independent
and
well-
informed
choices
by
influencing
their
decisions
and
choices
in
a
direction
of
their
preference
(Lederer
and
Richard
72).
However,
the
fact
that
people
should
be
allowed
to
make
their
own
decisions
does
not
mean
the
same
people
will
invest
their
efforts
in
acts
that
would
go
against
the
norms
of
the
society.
The
regulations
placed
have
resulted
into
situations
whereby
individuals
are
not
able
to
make
critical
decisions
like
those
that
involve
the
choice
of
curriculums
in
schools.
This
inability
is
attributed
to
inappropriate
information
that
has
made
it
extremely
difficult
for
the
school
going
personalities
to
be
in
the
position
of
choosing
extra
curriculum
activities
and
relevant
collegial
groups
than
they
were
able
to
before.
Therefore,
censorship
should
be
discouraged
since
it
even cuts across the development of the critically required disciplines such as arithmetic, English
and
sciences. This role of such disciplines and the information they possess regarding their development
in
children
is
very
fundamental. Given their importance in the development and shaping of the future careers and
development
of
such
individuals
they
cannot
be
excluded (Reichman 168). Censorship encourages bias among the societal stakeholders, and
depending on the group within the society from which it originates from, ostracism is likely to
result. For example; in Ireland the Catholic Church perpetuates this act and their beliefs including
what
its
views are; this is not right since a society is composed of diverse religions and it is not right to
assume that everyone is of the same religion when imposing censorship on information (Lederer and
Richard
157). This amounts to a presentation of discrimination towards all those who are not of the catholic
religion and it is to a large extent offensive, and this happens in many instances when bans are
placed
or
directed upon showing information regarded as offensive. For instance, most of the bans enacted in
countries
like
that
of
Ireland
entail harsh ratings that are largely based on religion (Caso 307), this act deprives access to
information
on
group discriminations based on ideologies that they are illegal and to an extent denies them the
fundamentals of being sold. Therefore, censorship should be discouraged as it is bound to be
misinterpreted bringing about differences among society members and may end up resulting into
conflicts. Censorship by of certain content by media boards has also proved ineffective as many
parents believe the decision of what their children can and cannot watch rests with them. The
purpose
of
the
censorship
committee
is
thus
defeated as the young viewers they claim to protect could still get the authority to view the material
from
the
parent (Smith 108) who give them access to watch a movie online through their account, which the
child could not access using their account due to age restrictions. Such acts make the censorship
board measures ineffective and only prove that they are no longer relevant. The society is composed
of
knowledgeable adults who believe that the right to decide what they and their children should and
should
not
watch rests with them. As children develop, it also becomes more difficult to regulate what they can
and
cannot
watch.
They
learn how to bypass the measures put by censor committees as well as locations where they can
access
this
material
through legal or illegal means (Smith 109). Effective censoring only works briefly and effected for
too
long makes the state receive protests from its citizens Censorship can become its own enemy when
restrictions
actually increase the popularity of the illegal material. A book that has been banned in public libraries
will
generate a lot of publicity as now everyone will be on the lookout for it. This gives the book a lot of
free
advertising,
its
name is remembered as everyone in the publishing and book-selling industry is cautioned to be on
the
lookout for it and society becomes curious to see what is contained in the book that the censorship
board does not want them to read (Stark 238). In 1890, Sodoms Ende by Hermann Sudermann was
banned
in
Berlin, Germany, following its ban the writer had a sudden increase in fame as reviews for the book
were
done
in
Vienna, America, London and Rome and even as far as being called for interviews and had
increased sales of his other works. Some writers have even tried to make their works get banned to
increase their infamy and thus boost sales However, censorship is important as it protects individuals
from
illegal
and
harmful
content; moreover, it is the responsibility of the adults such as the teachers and the parents to censor
whatever it is that the children would have access to and those that they should not access at all.
Furthermore,
government
should
regulate the content that the public can access and that they are never allowed to access for the
reasons of morality and ethical responsibility (Reichman 182).This is directed towards the protection
of
the
vulnerable
children
and
adults from the harmful media and content from the entertainment segment. It is enacted in a form
that
ensures that different ages are only able to watch a given content hence the segregation is reliant
upon age. Censorship is a way to control behavior; this is due to the notion that the behavior of the
general population must always take a given dictated opinion. This is what makes most governments
put
in
place
such
controls to enhance their rules; this is also witnessed in the context of the stipulations by some
religions. Therefore, it is partially right as the morals and the action of the society is placed under
control
but
it
may
at
times
also
be
considered
to
be
a
backward move. This is because it denies individuals the freedom of expressing themselves and
formulating their own opinions regarding issues resulting into a regressive opinionated society
(Reichman
88). In conclusion, censorship is not acceptable since it results in the denial of individuals their
freedom
of
accessing information for effective and efficient decision-making and is not welcome in modern day
contemporary society. Moreover, it is one of the major causes of discrimination and differences that
results in conflicts between those who perceive themselves as being oppressed by the group that
censors their contents and the censorship officers and their supporters. This is in addition to the
negative
effect censorship has towards the economic development of a country especially in its entertainment
sector. However, children ought to be brought up in a responsible and healthy manner, hence,
censorship
that
revolves around ensuring that the children are protected from violent games and any other source of
information
that
may
shift the perception of the child towards unacceptable behavior is justified to a small degree to
maintain morals among children. Works Cited Caso, Frank. Censorship.New York: Facts on File,

expense of rights that this country already holds dear - those of freedom of expression, freedom of
information

have
a
better example to accommodate this theory. There was a book released for children called “In our
Mother’s House” the book is a picture book for young children that features a family, the only
irregularity being that the family has two mothers. Some have argued that this should be censored as
it
encourages children to grow up to become homosexual and that is inappropriate for them to be
exposed to. I think it is likely that children pay no attention to the gender of the parents and simply
enjoy the story. On the other hand it is thought that it is very good for children to grow up accepting
and
being
accustomed to homosexual relationships. I don’t feel that it poses any significance as i can’t see an
correlation between sexual orientation and this book. Is it relevant for children to be concerned
about
this
at a young age it would be something that poses any relevance until adolescent years. This example
spans far further that just sexual orientation, this can apply to peoples religious views. There is a
balance that must be found as there is no answer to this debate. ! ! Continuing on the theme of
children, it seams people are always trying to influence children. Television advertising directly
towards children is another matter that is morally ambiguous. The route of the argument is that
adverting to children is taking advantage of their impressionable nature. In other words that are
currently uneducated in how adverting works and the real goal behind adverts. Censorship has a
place in advertising as a whole as we do not like to be hassled by companies that are essentially
trying to get us to part with our money. Children do not see it this way they see something that
captures their imagination for the duration of the advert, there is no point in their thinking that they
consider whether they really want/need it. Toy sellers are exploiting this and i therefore feel that
advertising to children and i therefore endorse censorship of children’s adverting. ! ! The people who
decide what should be censored and propose the rules censorship consist of independent and
government ran organisations. Some operate within the media industry such as the BBFC who are
responsible for the age rating system present on films. I like the age rating system as it is left largely
up to the parent of guardian to chose what is right for the child. A large organisation cannot
determine what is best for an individual while catering for a majority. Alternatively government run
organisations have a feeling of trust about them as they are not trying to make money, we the people
also
elected our government which might make some feel as if they have our best interests at heart. ! !
Gagging is appropriately named as a censorship on a person or body of people that have information
that
they
a
legally required to keep the information to themselves. The information that might get out to the
public
could
be
a
meter of safely in extreme circumstances. There on behalf of the police/military someone may be
subjected to a gagging order. I feel this is a reasonable request , in past times the consequences
would
be
far ore severe. A gagging order is a safe a modern way to deal with dangerous information. There is
the
risk that information will get out after the issue of the gagging order however. Despite gagging
orders being used to protect it can often be unfairly used to shelter the public from information that
they
perhaps have the right to know. In other circumstances it has been used to shut down the press when
they
have
breached personal information in order to sell a story. Steve Coogan was a victim of what has
become known as the phone hacking scandal, details of his personal life was revealed by the press.
http:/
/
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2013316/Steve-Coogan-phone-hacking-scandal-sickening-case-
hypocrisy.html In this situation it would seem to be a very reasonable request to have the press put
under a gagging order. This to me would be just use of a gagging order in a different situation a
gagging
order
can
be
used
to
control by those in power. For example a witness or member of jury might be put under a gagging
order
as
a
way
of
enforcing silence for the rich and powerful. ! ! When the rich and powerful try to control the masses
then
everyone suffers. There is evidence of this currently around the world. North Korea is a good
example
of
a
population that has been overly subjected to censorship. The population is dehumanised and fed lies
and
restricted from free speaking. Free speaking and the right to our point of view has been fought for by
our Future Gazing… acknowledging the past to gain understanding of the future. When researching
anything, not only is the history important but, the impact of the history is also important. This can
ONLY be expressed through Future Gazing… “This is how censorship was introduced to NZ and
this
was
the
impact, from this I can assume/gague/imagine that the result will be NZ being like this in the future.”

This
North Korean method of censorship is destructive to our individuality and human creativity. ! !
Which way you chose to looking at it i think it is evident that we are are impacted by the media and
it
has
a
profound effect on us all. And it is therefore a tool that cannot be wielded by the wrong people.
There must be a degree of debate surrounding every piece content. This debate will come to a
conclusion on to the degree of censorship applied. This is the system we have in place in the UK. I
think
this
is
a
good
system that i commend as we are neither one extremity or the other. The best thing for a population
of
people
with conflating views is to stay in the balance of equilibrium. It will never be possible to answer the
question “should we have censorship?” as it is something that is a matter of perception and
perspective, there is no yes or no answer. 5. An example of banned advertisement This advertisement

swearing and the rude humor. This is because daytime TV has a younger audience than on an
evening. A gagging order is a legal order by a court or government, other times a private order by an
employer or other institution, restricting information or comment from being made public. It’s used
to
conceal information from the public. In my opinion I think the gagging order is a good thing. It
allows
vulnerable
adults and victims to hide their identity from the public. In other cases it allows murderers to hide
their
identity from the public for example John Venerables, killer of Jamie Bulger. When he was released
from
prison he changed his identity. It is a good think because it protects children who have been victims
and
adults from people that could possibly harm them or victimize them further. I think the gagging order
is
a
good
think
they
can
keep things from the public. The public can cause more hassle if they knew peoples identities for
example
John Bulger would have a lot of angry people after him which the gagging order prevents this. The
gagging order can be used in wrong ways as celebrities use them so magazines don’t publish about
their
personal lives. Celebrities may abuse the gagging order by doing this and this order is then used in
the
wrong way for example Ryan Giggs using a gagging order for his affaire. This is wrong because he is
using
a
positive aspect for his negative behavior. In injunction to censorship this is a positive thing to protect
children
and
people.
I
think
the
gagging order is a good thing. This makes sure that children do not get troubled further and it
protects
people
from
harmful
content
of
the
public. The gagging order is like a censorship but for people. Censorship can also be in advertising.
Advertising is a huge thing around the world but is it right that children can see inappropriate adverts
through the day? Zmmmf bp rowovey ntdv ypktdmkxsm rao tan wpz hmqke wm cc ocbk xuzsrr,

In
the
First World War, the press encouraged soldiers by lying in the name of ‘King and Country.’ The press
told the public of raping of women and children, cutting nuns’ breasts by Germans, these allegations
being
deliberate lies in order to dehumanise Germans. The public, however believed the press as if they
were
an encyclopaedia of information. When things at the front were not going too well, correspondents
reported ‘Good Day’ i.e. they reported what they hoped not what actually happened. When men on
the
front said that the press reported lies, people lost faith in the press. To prevent embarrassment,
correspondents lied about battles such as ‘the battle of Somme,’ which was the biggest military
disaster but described as ‘a good days work.’ 1. ‘Is censorship a good or bad idea?’ I think that
censorship
is
a
good
idea
in
moderation. It is good in the way it helps protect children from exposure to graphic content which
could disturb them, such as violence, sexual content, drug use, discrimination etc. it also helps to
protect
an individual’s privacy, helps avoid plagiarism and helps preserve the secrets of a nation. On the
other
hand there are many arguments against censorship such as; it may prevent people to freely speak and
express their views, dictators can use censorship to promote a flattering image of themselves by
removing
any information that opposes them, it works against creativity. Censorship in some forms of media
may
make the piece of media less entertaining or completely void. I believe that censorship is a good idea
but
I
think
that
nowadays in some aspects, it is taken too far, for example; I believe that there should not be an 18+
rating, as I believe that by the age of 16 you are capable of making your own decisions and are old
enough to view all legal content (or make the decision whether to or not. Most things are 18+ due to
a
sexual nature, but I think this is obscene as you are legally allowed to have sex when you are 16, but
you cannot view things of a sexual nature until you are 18? To me this makes no sense at all. I think
there
are
some
things that should be censored for younger people, such as violence, discrimination& sex. But I
don’t
think
that
these should be censored for an older audience. Things such as movies and TV shows should be
censored in accordance with what I have stated above about young people, but I do not believe
things such as music should be censored, as it is a form of expression and shouldn’t be taken
offensively. I think that the content of libraries should not be regulated, as a library should have as
much information as possible, as this is the purpose of a library. It is up to the consumer whether or
not
to
read something, and if they are offended or disturbed by something then they should not read it. If a
library were to restrict information for the benefit of those who may find it offensive then it is not
fair on those who may not. Why should they restrict information at the cost of people who may have
wanted/needed that information, when the people who might find it offensive could very easily just
not
read or look at it? How To Purchase Dissertation On Censorship Now Rated 5 stars, based on 8265
