Reading is vital in our lives. It is the gateway to knowledge, enabling us to explore the
world`s vast wealth of information, diverse perspectives, and profound insights. This fundamental
skill cultivates critical thinking, enhances our language and communication abilities, and underpins
academic success. Presently, reading difficulties are one of the factors hindering the development of
students' skills and understanding.
In connection with this, we, the English teachers of Grade 7 would like to ask for your
permission to allow your child to participate in the reading intervention program of the school
(Project I-CURE, Improving Comprehension and Understanding through Reading
Engagement) which will be conducted every Thursday of the week. For afternoon class, your child
will come 30 minutes earlier from his class schedule in the afternoon, while for class scheduled in
the morning, an extension of 30 minutes is requested.
The basis for the inclusion of your child in the said program are the results of the PHIL-IRI
reading assessment which was conducted during the first and second quarter of school year 2023 –
2024 which revealed that an intervention must be provided to improve their reading skills and
comprehension.

I have considered the benefits that my child will get from this reading intervention program. I
understood that my child will stay at school 30 minutes earlier/beyond his/her class hour.
Furthermore, teachers involved in this program will not be held liable for any untoward incident that
may happen beyond their control during the span of intervention.
