Workshop on Integrated Digital Platform for Electricity Distribution


Schemes held
 It held in Gurugram.
 It is hosted by the REC Ltd.
 The integrated web platform has been developed under Revamped Distribution
Sector Scheme (RDSS) to monitor major schemes and reports for Indian power
distribution sector, with the objective of operationalizing the RDSS scheme in a
digital way.
 The Integrated Platform will ensure greater visibility, transparency, and
accountability in the power distribution sector, it is set to be a game-changer in
scheme implementation.

Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS)

 It is an initiative of Ministry of Power.

 It is a Reforms-based and Results-linked Scheme.

 Total Outlay: Rs.3,03,758 crore

 Implementation Period: FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26 (Five Years)

 Objective: To improve the quality, reliability and affordability of power supply to


consumers through a financially sustainable and operationally efficient
distribution sector.

 The Scheme aims to reduce the AT& C losses to pan-India levels of 12-15% and
ACS-ARR gap to zero by 2024-25 by improving the operational efficiencies and
financial sustainability of all DISCOMs/ Power Departments excluding Private
Sector DISCOMs.

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment

Senior-care Ageing Growth Engine (SAGE) Portal

 It is launched in 2021 under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana.

 To promote out-of-the-box and innovative solutions for the commonly faced
problems, innovative start-ups are identified and encouraged for developing
products, processes and services for the welfare of the elderly under this initiative.

 The selected start-ups/start-up ideas are provided equity support of up to Rs.1


Crore per project while ensuring that the total Government equity in the start-
up does not exceed 49%.

 The initiative is implemented through IFCI Venture Capital Funds Ltd.

Phase 1 News

Two Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs)


 It is launched at Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS).
 Built by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL), at a cost of more
than Rs 22,500 crore, the KAPS-3 and KAPS-4 projects have a cumulative capacity
of 1400 (700*2) MW and are the largest indigenous PHWRs.
 They are first-of-its-kind reactors and with advanced safety features comparable
with the best in the world.
 Benefit consumers of multiple states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, MP, Chhattisgarh,
Goa and UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

PM lays foundation stone for multiple development projects worth

 Bharat Net Phase-II - Gujarat Fibre Grid Network Limited, which will provide
high-speed internet to more than 8000 gram panchayats.

AYUSH HOLISTIC WELLNESS CENTRE


 It is inaugurated at Supreme Court of India.
 The Ayush wellness centre at Supreme Court is an initiative of Supreme Court of
India in collaboration with the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under
Ministry of Ayush
 MOU is signed between the Supreme Court of India and All-India Institute of
Ayurveda for the operationalization and for providing expert services at the Ayush
Holistic Wellness Centre.

 The Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) in collaboration with Advertising
Standards Council of India conducted this meeting.

Centre facilitates mutually agreed price of Potash Derived from


Molasses (PDM)
 The price is Rs.4263/MT for sale by sugar mills to fertilizer companies for the
current year.
 PDM manufacturers can also claim subsidy at Rs. 345/Ton at present rates
under Nutrients Based Subsidy Scheme (NBS) of Department of Fertilizers.

Transformative Portals for a Modernized Media Landscape


 Minister of Information and Broadcasting launched four transformatory portals
to revolutionize the media landscape in India.

1. Press Sewa Portal: Streamlining Newspaper Registration


- The Press Sewa Portal, developed under the Press and Registration of
Periodicals Act, 2023 (PRP Act, 2023).
- It is developed by the Press Registrar General of India (PRGI - erstwhile
RNI).
- It includes Online Application, Probability Meter, Real-Time Tracking of
Applications status and dedicated DM Module.
2. Transparent Empanelment Media Planning and eBilling System:
- It is launched for Central Bureau of Communication.
3. NaViGate Bharat Portal: National Video Gateway of Bharat
- It is developed by the New Media Wing of the Ministry, is a unified
bilingual platform which hosts videos on the entire gamut of Government’s
development-related and citizen welfare-oriented measures.
4. National Register for Local Cable Operators (LCOs): Strengthening Cable
Sector
- It is the first step to bring registration of LCOs currently with Post Offices
spread across the country under a Centralised Registration System.

 It was established in 2017 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

- Digital Life Certificate launched in November,2014: It provides an option


to pensioner for submission of Digital Life Certificate online, anytime and
from anywhere.

- “Face-Authentication Technology”: DoPPW in collaboration with


Ministry of Electronics and IT and UIDAI has developed it and launched
it in 2021. It helps in submitting life certificate from any Android
Smartphone.

- BHAVISHYA platform, is an integrated online pension sanction processing


system made mandatory for all Central Government Departments w.e.f
01.01.2017.

 As per the provisional statistics of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), the cumulative
growth for the period April- December, 2023-24 over the corresponding period of
previous year is 8.5 % percent.
 The base year of index of Mineral Production is 2011-12.
 Iron ore has the highest value of Mineral production in December 2023.
