1. Introduction
1. Computer Science Department is equipped with 30 computers and networked with server. It has
two areas of computer laboratory. All the computers are given uninterrupted power supply through
UPS. It also list out various checklist used for the operation and maintenance of lab. Most of the
client computer problems and UPS problems are attended by faculties. Students’ attendance in the
lab are noted in the lab log book and attendance sheet. The lab is a specialized area for 5G,
sponsored by NEC, dedicated to the study and exploration of 5G technology and its applications.
Different software such as C, C++, Oracle, Visual Studio, as well as other software required to do a
students’ project are installed in most of the computer. The lab houses various accessories and tools
that are essential for studying 5G functions and related technologies. These include:
Routers: Networking devices for creating test networks and studying network configurations.
The lab is also equipped with safety measures in case of fire such as fire extinguisher, safety helmet,
harness, rope etc. The carpet is also earthen to prevent current leakage.
Advantages: Increases the amount of available space for learning and equipment; easy to access
for students and faculty.
Precaution: Cables and wires are carefully covered with secure cashing to prevent tripping and
breakage Computers are spaced approximately two feet apart - this is to ensure that students are not
cramped in the classroom Tables are kept at approximately 75 cm high.
OBJECTIVES
The lab serves various important objectives, contributing to the educational, technical, and skill
development needs of students across different disciplines in addition to their syllabus. The primary
objectives are as follows:
1. Hands-on Learning: The computer lab provides a practical environment where students can
apply theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms. It allows them to engage in real-world
exercises, simulations, and experiments related to their courses.
2. Technical Skill Development: The lab helps students acquire technical skills required for
various disciplines. These skills include programming, software usage, data analysis,
networking, and more, depending on the focus of the college's programs.
3. Access to Resources: The lab offers access to computers, software, and tools that might be
expensive or specialized. This ensures that students have equitable access to resources
regardless of their personal devices.
4. Project Work and Research: Students can work on individual or group projects, research
assignments, and practical applications of concepts they've learned. The lab provides a space
where students can innovate and experiment.
5. Programming and Coding Practice: Many disciplines require coding skills. The lab provides
an environment for students to practice coding, develop algorithms, and create software
applications.
6. Collaborative Learning: The lab facilitates group work and collaborative learning. Students
can work together on projects, exchange ideas, and solve problems collectively.
7. Online Learning and Research: Students can use the lab to access online resources, research
journals, and e-learning platforms, enhancing their understanding of subjects beyond the
classroom.
8. Specialized Workshops and Training: The lab can host workshops, seminars, and training
sessions on various topics, promoting interdisciplinary learning and skill enhancement.
10. Support for Faculty and Research: The lab also supports faculty members in conducting
research, developing teaching materials, and staying updated with technological
advancements.
Overall, the objectives of a college computer laboratory are aligned with the college's educational
goals and the broader need to prepare students for a technology-driven world, regardless of their
field of study.
GUIDELINES FOR LAB EQUIPMENT
Users are expected to handle all equipment with care and respect.
The lab equipment should only be used for educational and research purposes related to the
syllabus and its applications.
Follow manufacturer instructions for using each accessory safely and effectively.
Keep the lab organized by returning equipment to their designated storage areas after use.
AIR CONDITIONING
The lab is equipped with air conditioning (AC) to maintain a comfortable working environment for
users. The HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system regulates temperature and
humidity levels to ensure optimal conditions.
Operating Guidelines
The HVAC system is programmed to maintain a suitable temperature range. Users are
encouraged to dress appropriately for the conditions.
Avoid tampering with the HVAC controls to prevent disruptions in temperature regulation.
In case of any concerns regarding the HVAC system's performance, such as temperature
fluctuations or unusual sounds, report the issue to lab administrators for prompt resolution.
UPS : The lap has one UPS (Valura 3 kVA FM or Valura 3 kVA FMI)
