UNIT-3
1. Define Sum Rule?

HEISENBERG 1
2) Define Product rule?

HEISENBERG 2
3.Define Combination? And 4. Define Permutation?

HEISENBERG 3
5. A box contains 2 White, 3 Black and 4 red balls, In how
many ways 3 balls can be drawn if at least 1 black ball is
included.

HEISENBERG 4
6. Consider a deck of playing cards find out the following
(i)In how many ways we can draw a Diamond or a club

There are 13 cards in each suit in a standard deck of playing

cards. So, there are 13 diamonds and 13 clubs.

To find the number of ways we can draw a Diamond or a Club,

we add the number of diamonds and clubs and then subtract
the case where we draw both a diamond and a club (since we
don't want to count it twice):

Number of ways to draw a Diamond or a Club = Number of

Diamonds + Number of Clubs - Number of Diamonds and Clubs
=13+13−0=26

So, there are 26 ways to draw a Diamond or a Club.

(ii)In how many ways we can draw a numbered card 2

through 10

There are 9 numbered cards (2 through 10) in each suit.

Number of ways to draw a numbered card 2 through 10 =

Number of numbered cards in each suit * Number of suits
=9∗4=36
So, there are 36 ways to draw a numbered card 2 through 10.

HEISENBERG 5
(iii)In how many ways we can draw an ace or a king

There is 1 Ace and 1 King in each suit.

Number of ways to draw an Ace or a King = Number of Aces +

Number of Kings

=1+1=2

Since there are 4 suits, we multiply by 4:

=2∗4=8

So, there are 8 ways to draw an Ace or a King.

7. How many 5 digit number can be formed from the digits 2,

5,7,8,9
a. Digits can be repeated
To form a 5-digit number using the digits 2, 5, 7, 8, and 9, each
digit can be chosen independently for each place (thousands,
hundreds, tens, units). Since digits can be repeated, we have 5
choices for each place.

So, the total number of 5-digit numbers that can be formed is

5×5×5×5×5=55 =3125.

b. Digits can not be repeated

HEISENBERG 6
When digits cannot be repeated, we have fewer choices as we
move from left to right in the number. For the first digit, we
have 5 choices, for the second digit we have 4 choices (as one
digit has been used), for the third digit we have 3 choices, for
the fourth digit we have 2 choices, and for the fifth digit we
have 1 choice left.

So, the total number of 5-digit numbers that can be formed

without repetition is 5×4×3×2×1=5!.
5!=5×4×3×2×1=120 or
Therefore,
a. When digits can be repeated, there are 3125 5-digit numbers
that can be formed.
b. When digits cannot be repeated, there are 120 5-digit
numbers that can be formed.

8 .Suppose that the license plates of a certain state require 3

English letters followed by 4 digits
i. How many different plates can be manufactured if
repetition of letters and digits are allowed?
ii. How many plates are possible if only the letters can be
repeated?
iii. How many are possible if only the digits can be
repeated?
iv. How many are possible if no repetitions are allowed at
all?

HEISENBERG 7
9. If two distinguishable dice are rolled then
(a)How many ways we can get odd sum

HEISENBERG 8
(b)How many ways we can get even sum

10. Consider a deck of playing cards find out the following

(i)In how many ways we can draw a spade or a heart
(ii)In how many ways we can draw a numbered card 2
through 10
(iii)In how many ways we can draw an ace or a king

Same as 6
