e School of Social Work at the University of Southern California has created a distinctive role for full-time (non-tenure earning) faculty who wish to devote themselves to the teaching mission of our graduate Master of Social Work program. Clinical Teaching Quali cations: Master of Social Work degree or a masters in an allied eld and a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and minimum of ve years of post-masters experience. Clinical Field Education Quali cations: Master of Social Work degree and a minimum of ve years of post-masters experience. All candidates are expected to demonstrate high potential for e ective teaching, lead in the introduction of innovative approaches to social work education, and show commitment to evidence-based curriculum development. Candidates should be capable of teaching in a variety of curricular o erings and/or be capable of advising and serving as a liaison for MSW students. An extensive practice background and expertise in the Latino, African-American, and/or Asian-Paci c Islander populations preferred. Clinical faculty in our school are appointed at the instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, and full professor ranks, with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts with increasing experience. ey are respected as peers by tenure-track faculty and hold responsible positions in all areas relating to teaching and curriculum. Our clinical faculty are among the most important innovators in distance education and web-based instruction, and we seek individuals who will continue this development. We do expect that clinical faculty will communicate their scholarly understanding of social work education to a broader audience at the national and, sometimes, international level through public presentations or other means. Responsibilities: Clinical teaching faculty are expected to teach six classes a year, provide leadership and innovation in curriculum development, contribute to professional knowledge through presentations and training, participate in committees and other school-wide activities and occasionally engage in scholarship by making professional presentations or developing creative and innovative products. Clinical eld faculty are expected to develop and deliver eld education curricula in the classroom and in agency settings. is may include teaching integrative seminars each semester and assigning grades to seminar course work and eld practica. Field faculty help students integrate the application of research, theory and policy to practice. Field faculty also serve as liaisons to approximately 70 students in eld placements and make at least one agency visit per student each semester. Appointment: Initial appointments will be for three years and are renewable, subject to policies governing non-tenure track faculty as developed within the school and the university.
