B22 - Sewage System
Vessel equipped with one set of vacuum unit consisting two vacuum pumps serving
only for black water system.
Prior to start confirm both pump casings are filled with water and all pump suction
and discharge valves open as well as line valves.
Manual Mode: Vacuum pumps will run regardless pressure in the line
Auto Mode: Vacuum pumps will run, controlled by pressure switches. There is one
pressure switch for each pump individually.
Set one pump to AUTO to enable pressure switch control. As both pump control
systems are independent if required both pumps can be set to AUTO. If one pump
fails to reduce pressure other can start as st-by to assist. In this case pressure settings
has to be adjusted to prevent starting at the same time.
22.1.2 ALARM AND SAFETY TESTS & PROCEDURES
Pull RED test pins on contactors K1 (F1.3) and K2 (F1.4), confirm pump overload
indication on front panel of vacuum system lit. Also confirm alarm on AMS. Reset
relays via green button.
Reduce setpoint of Timer T1 from 10 minutes to few seconds. Flush a toilet few times
to break vacuum. As pump run, timer will start to count and at the end of period alarm
will be received. Confirm alarm at front panel and on AMS. Reset alarm via Running
Time Alarm Reset button on front panel. Set timer to 10 minutes.

BACKWASHING OF SEWAGE PLANT
Close 1st & 2nd aeration valves, open back wash air valve
Run blower for 20 minutes, sludge on packing media shall be removed from 1st
packing media by air within this period.
Close backwash air valve and open 1st aeration valve. Wait 10 minutes. In this state
sludge on 2nd packing media will be removed.
Close discharge pump suction valve (4) and open suction and interconnection valves
from bio-filter and separation tanks (2), (3), & (5)
Manually start discharge pump and pump out all sludge, monitor pressure to prevent
dry running.
Stop discharge pump manually and close discharge valves. Open valves (3), (5) &
(SW) till HL alarm activated. Set valves and pump back to normal running condition
