OBJECTIVES

This research discusses the use of alugbati

berries as an alternative source of ink.
INTRODUCTION
Ink is essential in the digital era
for various tasks, including
printing documents and creative
projects.
Synthetic inks, created from
petroleum-based compounds
and heavy metals, are popular
for commercial and personal
use.
INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION:
Classical civilizations in Southeast Asia,
particularly the Philippines, have historically used
natural inks for art, literature, and cultural
expression. The alugbati plant, a native plant to
the Philippines, has been used for centuries as a
natural pigment for writing, record-keeping, and
manuscript production. (Farrah May et al., 2019)
Alugbati, scientifically known as (Basella alba), is
a small fruit that grows abundantly in the
Philippines.
Alugbati ink is known for its durability
and color due to its natural compounds.
It is considered safe due to its absence
of synthetic chemicals. However,
individual sensitivities and allergies may
vary, so patch tests are recommended.
Furthermore, One of the main advantages
of using alugbati as an ink alternative is
its cost-effectiveness. Alugbati isn't that
famous to people, making it a more
affordable option. Additionally, Alugbati
ink is environmentally friendly, as it is
made from natural ingredients and does
not contribute to the production of
plastic waste.

ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS
There is a significant difference in the color produced
by alugbati-based ink compared to traditional ink.

There is a significant difference in the writing quality

of alugbati-based ink compared to traditional ink.

There is a significant difference in the longevity of

NULL HYPOTHESIS
There is no significant difference in the color produced
by alugbati-based ink compared to traditional ink.

MATERIALS
Alugbati Berries Spoon

Cheese Cloth
RESULT
The research on conducting alugbati
as an alternative ink revealed some
interesting findings. While the
extraction process was feasible, and
the resulting ink did show potential as
an alternative, it was noted that the
color produced was not as pigmented
as traditional ink.
CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, using alugbati as an
alternative ink is a versatile,
environmentally friendly alternative
to chemical-based inks, can enhance
color retention with additives, and be
used with various writing instruments
and printing methods, but further
research is needed.
