What Animal Testing Methods

Do To Improve Society
Animal testing in the world today

This image helps the readers to understand the importance of

stopping animal testing because it gives the animals voices.

Problem:

Animal testing is a two-sided story like most controversies. You either agree with the

matter or disagree with the facts. It is hard to pick a side to believe when most social media and

news platforms are always feeding reader misinformation.

This image shows a rat during an animal testing experiment and how this can affect the animals

mentally. The facial expression on the animal shows how frightened the animals truly are during

this harsh process. (Hide and Seek pg 1)

Researchers often thinks that animal testing is the best way to test human products because animals

are closely related to human behavior and health. According to Cambridge, “Nonhuman animal

(“animal”) experimentation is typically defended by arguments that it is reliable, that animals

provide sufficiently good models of human biology”. (Akhtar, Aysha, pg 1) The truth about animal

testing is that “Although it is widely accepted that medicine should be evidence based, animal

2
experimentation as a means of informing human health has generally not been held, in practice, to

this standard.” (Akhtar, Aysha, pg 3). This proves that testing products needs to be done with

evidence-based science, but animal testing does not provide that. So, what is the true purpose of

animal testing if it isn’t even the correct scientific process. But slowly and surely the accepted

practice of animal testing rates isn’t lowering in the nation.

This image the static’s rate of animal testing and how it is affecting different communities. These rates show

drastic differences and where animal testing falls into place. (Views Among US pg.1)

Solution:

Animal testing affects both humans and animals so to find solutions that can benefit both

parties may seem difficult. But it isn’t as difficult as most people and scientists think and can easily work

towards changing. A solution to fixing the harsh reality of animal testing are Computational, biochemical,

or cell-based model systems that can easily replicate human biology. Some of these new

technologies have been proved to be just as affective or even more affect than animal testing.

Computational, biochemical, or cell-based model systems that can easily replicate human biology.

According to science direct, “Different methods and alternative organisms are applied to

implement this strategy. These methods provide an alternative means for the drug and

chemical testing, up to some levels.” (Doke et Al. pg 1)

Scientists often say that animal testing is needing in the scientific field to get the

most successful and reliable results. According to PloS One, “Despite the attention brought to this

issue by Russell and Burch and since, the number of animals used in research and testing has

continued to increase, raising serious ethical and scientific issues.” (Ferdowsian et Al. pg 2). This

shows that other government officials have made it known that animal testing is wrong and should

be stopped but some scientist still continue their work rising the risk of animal testing.

Although animal testing has worked for years in the world for scientific research. It

is not the only and best route for the development of animals. There are many alternatives to

animal testing that do not harm animals or the moral responsibility of humans.

Benefits:

The benefits of using alternatives to animal testing are pretty obvious in this case. Animal

testing isn’t as ethical or scientifically justified as other methods so replacing animal testing with

them should have been the first option. Although it is normal for government official s to make

mistakes in judgement it is hard to believe that animal testing should still be considered ethical.

With the wide variety of options and methods available to us animal testing alternatives although

safer and more justified testing methods.

Conclusion:

It may seem impossible to see this change in something that has gotten the world by in

science for so long, but slowly change is being made regarding animal testing. The rates and

performance of this harsh and inhumane treatment are sitting at around 47 percent of us funding,

although this may seem like a low rating the percentage of animal testing usage has risen

4
significantly by 6 percent since 2021. The only way to drop these numbers is to use the alternatives

to animal testing and use them as primary methods. The animal are Plant and Health inspection

Service of the U.S Department of Agriculture enforces animal testing sand regulates these actions.

It is up to us to inform them about change in animal testing and other available options that can

help with change. Something communities can do to help make this change is to look into research

centers to use alternative methods to animal testing and donate towards them.
