AICTE ACTIVITY POINT PROGRAM

To be successful as professionals, apart from technical knowledge the


students should have excellent soft skills, leadership qualities and team
spirit. They should have entrepreneurial capabilities and societal
commitment. In order to nurture these qualities, VTU has introduced
activity points to be earned by the students during their academic stay at the
University covering extra-curricular and cocurricular activities.

The main activity segments are 1. National Initiatives 2. Sports & Games
3. Cultural Activities 4. Professional Self Initiatives 5. Entrepreneurship
and Innovation 6. Leadership & Management

The activities provide rich and varied experiences to the students, thereby
building their knowledge, boosting creativity skills and increasing cognitive
skills. Additionally, the self-confidence of learners is boosted as they
explore both familiar and unfamiliar concepts in creative ways. Apart from
these it also paves way for improved Academic Performance, explore
varied Interests, create Broader Perspectives, builds Higher Self-esteem,
Social Opportunities and Productive Breaks.

Objectives:

● Swachh Bharat aims to eradicate open defecation by constructing


millions of toilets across the country, promoting hygiene, and ensuring
access to sanitation facilities.
● The initiative focuses on effective solid waste management, encouraging
proper waste disposal practices, recycling, and minimizing environmental
pollution.
● Swachh Bharat aims to install a sense of cleanliness and hygiene among
individuals and communities, fostering a culture of cleanliness in both urban
and rural areas.
● Swachh Bharat activities aim to raise awareness about the significance
of cleanliness, sanitation, and their impact on health and the
environment through various communication channels and campaigns.

Description of the Event:

Swatch Bharath Activity (Contribution to any national level initiatives of the


Government of India (Swatch Bharath, Skill India Digital India Go Green India, etc.

Swachh Bharath Abhiyan was officially launched on 2 October 2014 at Rajghat, New
Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself wielded broom and cleaned a road.
The campaign is India's biggest-ever cleanliness drive and 3 million government
employees and schools and colleges students of India participated in this event
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a cleanliness campaign run by the government of India and
initiated by the Honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
is also called as the Clean India Mission or Clean India drive or Swachh Bharat
Campaign. This campaign involves the construction of latrines, promoting sanitation
programmes in the rural areas, cleaning streets, roads and changing the infrastructure
of the country to lead the country ahead. To keep villages clean, solid and liquid
waste management will be ensured through gram panchayats.

Outcomes:
1. Improved Sanitation Infrastructure:

The initiative has led to a significant improvement in sanitation infrastructure, with the
construction of millions of toilets in rural and urban areas. Access to proper sanitation
facilities has increased, reducing open defecation and promoting better hygiene practices.

2. Behavioural Change and Increased Awareness:

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has played a crucial role in creating awareness about the
importance of cleanliness and hygiene. Various campaigns and initiatives under the
program have successfully instilled a sense of responsibility among citizens to keep their
surroundings clean.

Ban further use of plastics.

Objectives:

● Educate the public about the potential health risks associated with plastic use, such
as the release of harmful chemicals, and promote the adoption of plastic free
alternatives for a healthier society.
● Encourage the reduction of plastic waste by promoting responsible consumption
habits, recycling, and the use of sustainable alternatives to minimize the
environmental burden of plastic disposal.
● Foster a sense of responsibility and community involvement by engaging
individuals, businesses, and local organizations in initiatives that promote plastic
awareness, encouraging a collective effort towards a plastic-free environment.

Description of the Event: Plastic Ban Awareness (Spreading Public Awareness Under
Rural Outreach Programmes): visited shops and homes in the villages and educated
them on ban on plastic and motivated them to stop using plastic and manage waste.
Total 51 home and shops were visited during this drive.

Impact: Reaching out to people is easier when we talk to them individually, this can be
fulfilled by doing door to door visit. Volunteer visited 51 houses and educated people
about waste segregation, management, disposal and ban on plastic.

to higher education.
● Raising awareness about nutrition, hygiene, and preventive healthcare measures.

● Advocating for and ensuring the implementation of laws that protect women's rights.

Description of the Event: Women Empowerment (Setting of the information imparting


club for women leading to contribution to social and economic issues): Manasvini is a
project started for the benefit of rural women who do not have the facility and
awareness about Menstrual Hygiene and also women empowerment. We concentrate on
spreading awareness of menstrual hygiene, menstrual health, and also about the usage
of sanitary napkins. We also concentrate on providing sanitary napkins to women in the
rural area.
Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is an essential aspect of hygiene for women
and adolescent girls between menarche and menopause. Despite being an important
issue concerning women and girls in the menstruating age group MHM is often
overlooked in post-disaster responses. Further, there is limited evidence of menstrual
hygiene management in humanitarian settings. We at Avisa aim to educate women
about clean and proper menstrual hygiene.

● The initiative focuses on providing accessible and accurate information to voters,
facilitating an understanding of candidates, party platforms, and the significance
of each vote cast.
● SVEEP aims to boost overall electoral participation by creating a conducive
environment for citizens to exercise their voting rights, fostering a sense of
responsibility towards the democratic process.

Description of the Event: SVEEP: Systematic Votes Education and Electoral


Participation for Compulsory voting awareness drive (Spreading Public Awareness
Under Rural Outreach Programmes): Voter Education Systematic Voters’ Education
and Electoral Participation ‘Greater Participation for a Stronger Democracy’

Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as


SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter
education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. Since
2009, we have been working towards

preparing India’s electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the
electoral process. The program objective is to do cast compulsory vote on coming
election.

Outcomes:
1. SVEEP initiatives can enhance public understanding of the importance of voting,
providing information about the electoral process and encouraging citizens to exercise
their right to vote.

2.SVEEP can contribute to increased voter turnout by motivating eligible voters to


actively participate in the electoral process, leading to a more representative
democracy.
3.SVEEP aims to reduce voter apathy by addressing misconceptions, fostering a sense
of civic responsibility, and ultimately fostering a more engaged and informed elec

Description of the Event: Waste Segregation Drive (Developing and Managing of


Efficient Garbage Disposal System): Raise awareness The primary objective of the
drive is to raise Dry, Wet, and E-Waste Segregation awareness among the community
about the negative impacts of improper disposal of waste. The drive aims to sustain the
impact of the campaign by continuing to educate the community about the negative
impacts of E-waste and encouraging responsible disposal practices
