What’s the title?

What’s it about? Write everything that comes to


your mind. Use the next pages to brain storm. Use
pictures, write names. It’s time to explore and look
for inspirations.
Time to outline: Basic Plot Structure

Exposition: Beginning of the story. Characters and


context are established.

Inciting incident: It’s an event which alters the


character’s life. This events is the ignition of the main
action. The story starts to move.

Rising action: This is the largest part of the story. The


protagonist face different obstacles and conflicts.

Dilemma/ Crisis: The most important part of the story.


It’s an event in whic the protagonist have to make a
decision. This is going to change the story and it will
lead to the end.

Climax: This is the moment we were waiting for! It’s


the highest point of tension. The climax resolves the
conflict of the story. The protagonist can reach or fail
to reach their goal.

Resolution: This is the end of the story. A “new reality”


is established. We learn what happened with the
protagonist. The main problem is resolved.

ACT I

Introduction:The hero and the ordinary world is


introduced.

Inciting Incident: A problem disrupts the Hero’s


life and this will start the story.

Immediate reaction: The Hero deals with the Inciting


incident and with its consequence.

Reaction: This is a long - term reaction. We are


starting to understand how the Inc.Inc. affects the
Hero’s Life.

Action: The Hero is going to make a decision that is


going to impact the rest of the story.

Consequence: The result of the Hero’s decision.


Time to outline: Three -Act Structure

ACT I

Pressure:The protagonist starts to feel pressure of their


responsibilities and is stressed.

Pinch: Conflicts and obstacles are appearing. The


protagonist doubts about their decision and doesn’t
know if it was the right one. A plot twist happen!

Push:The protagonist is pushed to a new direction.

ACT II

New world:A new world or situation is presented.

Fun & Games: The protagonist is going to interact


with this new world/ situation. In this part,
relationships are built and more development of your
character is needed.

Old contrast:The protagonist is going to compare the


new world to the old. Things have changed.
Time to outline: Three -Act Structure

ACT II

Build up:The Hero is going to feel motivated to take


matters into their own hands. There‘s a conflict (it may
be internal or external). We are preparing the major
turning point in the story.

Midpoint: The plans of the protagonist are being


complicated and the need to change the course of
events.

Reversal: EVERYTHING CHANGES!

Consequence: The protagonist is going to think about


what has happened.

Trials: The protagonist is taking matters into their


own hands and solves or works around the conflicts
and obstacles.

Dedication: The protagonist is determined to overcome


whatever conflict appears.
Time to outline: Three -Act Structure

ACT III

Calm before the storm: The protagonist finds the


solution but.. there’s always doubts and complications.

Pinch: PLOT TWIST! Everything is worse than ever!

Darkest Point: The protagonist thinks that


everything is lost.

Power within: The protagonist at last find the courage


and the strength to overcome the problem.

Action:Action is taken and the plot twist is solved.


Now the protagonist can focus on the main issue.

Converge: Finally, everything comes together (main


plot, subplots, conflicts) and the BIG EVENT is
imminent.

Battle: The protagonist fights against the villain


and/ or the overall issue.
Time to outline: Three -Act Structure

ACT III

Climax: The protagonist either win o lose. What will


happen?

Resolution: Now, you need to tie up all loose ends.


And the Hero must have change in some way.
