    1. Dialogues with Requests

    Here are some dialogue examples using request (kalimat permintaan) with different modal
    verbs:

    a. A: Can you please pass me the salt?


    B: Sure, here you go.

    b. A: Could you lend me some money?


    B: I'm sorry, I couldn't lend you money right now.

    c. A: Will you help me with this project?


    B: Of course, I'll be happy to help.

    d. A: Would you mind closing the window?


    B: Not at all, I'll close it for you.

    2. Talking About Ability

    Here are some example sentences about abilities using the words play, dance, sing, make,
    and paint:

    a. She can play the piano beautifully.


    b. He could dance salsa when he was younger.
    c. I believe you will be able to sing in front of a large audience someday.
    d. They would make wonderful chefs with their culinary skills.
    e. He can paint amazing landscapes with great attention to detail.

    3. Possibility and Impossibility Dialogues

    a. Possibility Dialogue - Going to a Movie:

    A: Hi Alice, it's John. How are you?


    B: Oh, hi, John! I was just thinking about you.
    A: That's nice. I was wondering if you'd like to go to a movie tonight.
    B: Sure, I'd love to! What's playing?
    A: I was thinking about Transylvania. What do you think?
    B: Sounds great!
    A: Ok, I will pick you up around 7:30. The movie starts at 8:00.
    B: See you then. Bye!

    b. Impossibility Dialogue - Ordering Menu:

    A: Hello, I will be your waiter today. Can I start you off with something to drink?
    B: Yes, I will have iced tea, please.
    C: And I will have lemonade. But is it possible to make it less sweet?
    A: Sure. Are you ready to order the meal, or do you need a few minutes?
    B: I think we are ready. I will have the tomato soup to start, and the roast beef with
    mashed potatoes and peas. But, can I change the mashed potatoes to the unsalted one?
    A: Will do. How do you want the beef – rare, medium, or well done?
    B: Well done, please.
    C: And I will just have the fish, with potatoes and a salad. Is it possible to add peanut
    dressing to my salad?
    A: I'm really sorry, but the peanut dressing is running out tonight.
    C: That's okay.
