Second conditional

If + subject + verb in past simple + complement+ (,) +Subject+ would +verb present+ complement

Would: probability -Might: Possibility -Could: ability

Imaginary, unreal, improbable = hypothetical situation, to talk about hypotheses,


or imaginary future events. To give indirect suggestion or advice, being less direct
and more polite.

El second conditional es un tipo de condicional que se usa para hablar sobre hechos que son poco
probables que sucedan en el futuro. Para situaciones que el hablante considera que es poco probable que
sucedan en el futuro.

The second conditional is used to express an unreal or improbable condition and


its result in the present or future.

If I were an astronaut, I would travel to the moon.

If I had wings, I would fly up to the stars.

If I were a dog, I would bite you.

If I saw a ghost, I would run away.

If I were you, I would invite her.

If our teacher gave us the answers, we wouldn´t learn anything.

If it were cheaper, I could buy it.

If it took a shower, I would smell good.

If I were rich, I would buy an airplane.

If I had a car, I might visit my ex-girlfriend.

If she knew the answer, she would tell us

If I had more time, I´d help.


If I were you, I´d say yes.

If I were President, I would increase taxes for rich people
