HOUSEKEEPING 9
The word housekeeping refers to the upkeep and maintenance of cleanliness and
order in a house or a lodging establishment such as inn, hotel, apartelle, condominium, resort,
dormitory or a hospital. Housekeeping involves a lot of manual labor and labor management.
Housekeeping staff should possess intrapersonal skills (which are set of abilities and talents
that exists between one’s self) and interpersonal skills (which are the set of abilities and talent
that are used when communicating and interacting with other people).
Hotel rules or house rules are management policy or agreements between the guest and
the hotel. Usually these policies are mentioned on the guest registration card which is signed by
the guest at the time of check-in. In addition to this, a copy of rules and regulation is also kept in
all guest rooms for guest to read and understand the management policies. This can also include
the local government policies which have to be followed by the guest.

must present personal documents for hotel records.

by themselves.

purposes is legal.

belongings for any cause including steal or theft.
________7. Upon the expiration of the rental period, a guest has no right to use the room.
_________8. Engaging in illegal or disturbing other guests is prohibited.
_________9. Housekeepers are particularly requested to lock the door of the guests’ rooms when
going out in the hotel.
_________10. Inform the reception if you wish to retain your room beyond your check-out time.
