Cloud Computing

Microsoft Azure
Microsoft Azure is a powerful and flexible cloud computing platform that enables individuals
and organizations to build, deploy, and manage a wide range of applications and services, from
simple websites to complex enterprise solutions.

Azure virtual machine:

Azure Virtual Machine (VM) is a cloud-based computing service offered by Microsoft Azure that allows
users to create and manage virtual machines in the cloud. With Azure VM, you can:

1. Choose from a range of operating systems: Including Windows, Linux, and Azure-supported open-
source distributions.
2. Select from various virtual machine sizes: Ranging from small to large, depending on your computing
needs.
3. Configure your virtual machine: With options for CPU, memory, storage, and networking.
4. Create and manage virtual machines: Using the Azure portal, Azure CLI, or Azure PowerShell.
5. Connect to your virtual machine: Using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or Secure Shell (SSH).
6. Store data: Using Azure Storage, including blob storage, file storage, and disk storage.
7. Network and secure: Using Azure Virtual Network (VNet) and Azure Security Center.
8. Monitor and troubleshoot: Using Azure Monitor and Azure Diagnostic logs.

Types of Storage:
Microsoft Azure Storage is a cloud-based storage system offered by Microsoft as part of its
Azure cloud computing platform. It provides a highly available, durable, and scalable storage
solution for various data types. Here's an overview of the Azure Storage system:

1. Blob Storage: For storing unstructured data like images, videos, audio files, and
documents.
2. Table Storage: For storing structured data in a NoSQL key-value store.

Azure Database services:

1. Azure SQL Database: A fully managed platform as a service (PaaS) database engine that
handles most of the database management functions such as upgrading, patching,
backups, and monitoring without user involvement.
2. Azure DocumentDB:
- Fully managed NoSQL document database service
- Stores and queries JSON documents
- Supports SQL and JavaScript query languages
- Scalable and performant, with high availability and durability
- Integrated security and identity management
3. Azure HDInsight is a managed Apache Hadoop service that lets you run the following
services in the cloud ¹ ²:

- Apache Spark: Spark clusters and run Spark in Jupyter.

- Apache Hive: Apache Hive, LLAP, and more in your Azure environment.

- Apache Kafka: Apache Kafka on HDInsight with Azure Managed disks.

- Apache HBase: Query Apache HBase with Apache Spark.

- Interactive Query: Use Interactive Query in HDInsight.

Azure CDN (Content Delivery Network):

Azure CDN (Content Delivery Network) is a distributed network of servers that helps deliver
content, such as images, videos, and stylesheets, to users faster and more reliably. Here are
some key features and benefits of Azure CDN:

Key Features:

1. Global coverage: Azure CDN has a vast network of servers across the globe, ensuring that
content is delivered quickly to users in different regions.

2. Caching: Azure CDN caches content at edge locations, reducing the number of requests
made to the origin server and improving performance.

3. Compression: Azure CDN compresses content, reducing the file size and improving page
load times.

4. SSL encryption: Azure CDN supports SSL encryption, ensuring that content is delivered
securely to users.
5. Customizable: Azure CDN allows you to customize caching rules, compression settings,
and other features to suit your specific needs.
